  1. ADMINS- Please get rid of this. there is just absolutely no reason why I should have to use a 3rd party app to get into a website. unless this is some setting that ive got on my omputer that ive never encountered before, i think that this is a result of the website. i just absolutely cannot stand stuff like this and there is no reason that on a discussion forum, not a place where any real important or secure information is secured, that there sould be some kind of authentication beyond username and password. sorry, this is extremely frustrating and annoying. hopefully im being an idiot and this is something having to do with my computer or internet browser settings... brett.

  2. Hi Daniel, If you ask a vest designer for an opinion on that subject, you'll get a biased one, but here we go! Wherever you connect the arm to the vest, the weight of the Steadicam is still out front, so let's first rule out any differential there. Connecting the arm to the back of the vest does not magically transfer the weight into your back. Although the Exovest can be front or rear mounted, I use mine almost exclusively front mounted. The exception is when I'm using a 3rd arm section. The extra section has to go somewhere, and rear mounting provides the perfect solution of creating space. The main difference in feel between front and rear mounting, in this case (as it's the only one I'm really familiar with) is that there's less torque bending your body forward, but that's because you now have some extra counterbalance weight out back. That might feel nice, but I'd rather build up a little back muscle than subject my hip, knee, and ankle joints to carrying around the extra weight that rear mounting entails. Apart from the extra weight, there's the extra girth to deal with too. You're always going to be wider with a back mount, and there are often going to be situations when that's a liability. However, and most importantly, comfort and confidence in the equipment is paramount. Whatever works for you is the right system. All the best, Chris Chris

  3. Chris, I would be glad to learn on this subject. If you have a minute please write down something here. I've been using your Exo front mounted for 4 years, and spent 6-9 more months back mounted with the Xbone.

  4. Yep, it's quite annoying, and for internet rookies like me, quite "scary". But seems like you have to go that way to connect here. Never seen this elsewhere.

  5. This is my personal technique for making whip pans. I’m sharing here in hopes that it might help a newer operator who is looking to improve their whip pans during this quarantine.

  6. mark- one of the design ideas with the Tiffen dock was to keep everything below the fork so that the Volt bits on the gimbal wouldn't be inadvertently hit and damaged. Using the Hill bracket with the Tiffen fork is possible, but there is more opportunity for accidental collisions.

  7. The Tiffen bracket has a docking/balancing pin just to the left of where it mounts to the stand which I like. Means you don't have to pull out the docking pin or spin the dock around (which you still can if you want to spin balance), just lift the rig and place it on that pin which is close to the center of the stand and you don't have to worry about being over a leg and the stand tipping over. Hope I made myself clear here. The Tiffen dock as opposed to the Hill Gorelock takes a little getting used to docking below the gimbal and you must take care not to pinch your hand when placing the rig in the dock by hand. Some choose to forego the added clearance above the gimbal and keep using the Gorelock with the ring.

  10. Hello All, I'm happy to finally announce we are officially launching the latest 1.7 Volt Firmware. Thank you to Larry McConkey & Steve Wagner for all the work they put into helping us make this firmware what it is. Look in the video description on how to proceed w/ getting the update. In the video, it shows the changes that we made in the update to help you understand what the volt is doing in Regular & Sticky mode. If you received a Volt since July 2020 you'll have the latest 1.7 firmware already installed on your control box.
