  2. All- For G-70 owners: an idea popped up at the SOA workshop to extend the horizontal range of the arm. Based on Chris Fawcett’s idea for his G-50 arm (which works wonders by itself), we removed the small block that restricts the male socket block’s travel against the torsion spring. For the G-70 arm, we also changed the “kick-back” link into a “kick forward” link. The combination (as seen in the photos) has the effect of extending the range of arm movement to the left (normal operating) and the same extended range of movement to the right as we had with the old kick-back link. The only trick is that it requires a slightly new technique to insert the male socket block into the female one on the vest – as the block that keeps everything in a straight line is removed. Small learning curve. The other benefit of the technique (both for the G-50 and G-70) is that the arm does not bang against the block anymore when running. Three photos illustrate how the arm moves relative to the socket block. Jerry Sled way to the right, arm links fold out of the way "normal operating position" Sled way to the left - extended reach
