  3. I don't have the ergo handle. The bearing is centered in the gimbal itself by pro but the gimbal between the forks is user adjustable using one of the tools they include with the rig. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  4. Did you try adjusting the end caps on the yoke to center the gimbal in the forks? I spoke to Jack and he said they can't test that centering on the bench without a loaded up camera. I had sent my gimbal in for service and it was failing the 90 degree test when I got it back. A couple minutes adjusting the end caps and it was perfect, even on a light build.   7. Before the last season of our show I went to one of those running shoe stores where they watch you walk and measure your feet. I told them I needed dark colored shoes that don't force my foot forward when my heel hits to aid in walking slowly. I ended up with some Adidas running shoes that were all cloth uppers with some rubberized screen printing on top for some support. They were lightweight and really comfortable and lasted 22 episodes.   8. I don't have the atomos monitor, but the smallhd dp7hb is way too reflective for my liking, and their screen protector they sent with it didn't help much. I purchased some anti-reflective matte iPad screen protectors from Amazon and can cut 2 to fit the monitor from each one.   10. https://gearedirisworkshop.wordpress.com/2017/02/01/back-lit-spirit-level-for-steadie-cam/ A co-worker made me this spirit level for my monitor which has a mount hole for a 1/4-20 screw so I can mount it to my DP7-HB monitor. Some of our night scenes were so dark that I couldn't see my level, so this is what we came up with. It uses a level from McMaster Carr for a couple bucks. It's angled back towards the operator and is shielded enough to not be seen in reflections even of tabled pretty far. It also has ND and diffusion on it so the led isn't very bright or spotty, and the level is really easy to see. I put a ptap connector on it and run it off of the AB mount on the back of the monitor.   12. Ok, after some more playing around, it looks like the thinnest option I can do for a 2 inch post is 2.33". I'll have to get them printed in SLS and put helicoils in.,as well as order specialty small head screws, which would be slotted. I will assemble and ship to you once I receive it. Because of all this, cost would be $140 shipped in the US for a complete 2piece grip 3.5" tall. If you're interested, please send me a PM. I'll need 2 people interested to get this started. Thanks.   13. If I do helicoils I may be able to make them thinner for both 1.5 and 2" posts. The issue is they wouldn't be user printable, I'd have to buy a tool and do them on demand. What would be the maximum thickness desired for 2" and 1.5" posts? A few people have sent me paypal - thanks! I can use that money for a helicoil tool and make a few up. I'd probably have to charge minimum $60-75 per grip to make it worth my time. Turnaround would be longer, but I could leave my current grips available for people who don't need really thin ones.   14. The issue with going thinner is I can't make threads in a 3d printed part, and the square nuts are all the same size. The whole design is that thick to accommodate the square nuts. Due to printing minimum wall thickness, it pretty much has to be this size. But nylon can probably be sanded down on the outside if you want to try making it a little smaller. I tried to find another way to do it for 2" posts byt haven't come up with an alternate way to attach the parts. Tim Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

  17. I played around with it, it's just so thin that I can't get anything threaded in there. I tried to come up with some sort of clip to make but nothing will be solid or secure enough with that thin of a wall. The grip you want is only .15" thick on each side max, which is really quite thin. What I could do is probably flare out the top and bottom so that they are thick enough to get small screws in, a little more than 1/4" thick on each side. That would require 4 screws, but it could work. What is the thickest O.D. Of the gimbal between the forks? That way I would know what I have to work with up there on the flared part.   19. Can you measure the O.D. Of your gimbal grip, and the space between the forks on the gimbal when angled over the post, to make sure it will fit in that space?   20. I could try to make one for 2" posts, I would probably have to use #4-40 screws because the thickness is determined by the square nut that goes on each side. How big would you want the outer diameter for a 2" post? I'd have to work out the minimum but I'd say about 2.7" give or take. Tim Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

  24. Here is my 3d printable shareware low mode wrap grip project. If you make one for yourself and find it useful please consider sending a paypal donation my way at lisselandtim [at] Gmail [dot] com. I wanted to buy a wrap grip for low mode but couldn't find any for sale. So I created my own version that can be 3d printed. The design is for a 1.5" post, clears the fork of my pro vz gimbal just fine. Both halves are identical, so you want to print 2 to make one grip. There are small tabs for alignment and slots for square nuts and 10-32 screws. You'll need 2 10/32 square nuts and two 10-32 x 1/2" Allen drive screws. Optionally you can grab some grip tape such as this Grip Tape from Amazon Outer Diameter is 62mm, or 2.55". Due to the size of the square nuts, it had to be this big to accomodate a 2mm wall thickness. Here are a few photos from Joel San Juan who helped me out testing. Here are the links. They are on Tinkercad, where you can download the printable file in your chosen format or upload straight to a service like shapeways or 3d hubs. If you're in LA, contact Alan Rancher at Media Blackout for printing. 4" 4" Wrap grip half 3" 3" wrap grip half 2" 2" Wrap grip half These come out somewhere from $20 to $50 per half to get printed. I would recommend going with nylon or PETG at max 100 microns. The black prototype printed at the top of the page is 300 microns ABS, neither of which are ideal. Let me know what you think. Tim
