  1. There are so many routes that you can go. My suggestion would be to attend a workshop if one is available to you. I personally took the SOA Workshop in Pennsylvania, USA. They're not affiliated with any specific Steadicam manufacturer, so you get a lot of experience with many different brands. There are some Tiffen branded workshops on your side of "the pond" coming up though https://flysteadicam.tiffen.com/pages/events .
  2. I end up getting a Tiffen M2 sled with a volt and a G50x arm. Looking to upgrade my vest to a GPI pro.
  3. This isn't the first time this question has been asked in here, but the last note on it was in 2015 here. I'm buying my first steadicam next week and I'm trying to get all my paperwork ducks in a row before I start operating. I will be joining the SOA and obviously insuring my gear. Had a couple of questions about starting an LLC and whether or not the necessity of having one. Should every operator have one? Do you bill labor and gear through the LLC? Just one? Or should I start as just an individual? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  4. Getting a quote started for my first steadicam purchase. Besides BNC cables and respective power cables for specific cameras - what cables would be great to consider purchasing?
  5. I'm currently in the research and quoting phase for my first steadicam purchase. I only have experience with Tiffen Steadicam brand gear (M2, M1, Shadow, and Zephyr) and I'd like to get experience with other brands before I make this big financial decision. Are there any New York based operators with GPI Pro, Arri Trinity, Sachtler Artemis, etc. brand "steadicam" rigs that would be willing to let a newbie practice with / rent out? Also if anyone in NYC needs / wants a steadi-utility/assistant I'd be happy to be of service. Thanks in advance!
  6. Sorry haven't checked the Forum in a minute. I am still interested! Thank you
  7. Sorry, for some reason it's not letting me post in the "wanted" section. I'm looking to buy a used Steadicam Zephyr Kit in NYC or the greater NY area. Please let me know if you're selling or know anyone who is. Thank you!
  8. Thanks so much for all of the positive opinions on this. Follow up question - do people come from all over the world for these workshops, or is it mainly local? Would it make sense for me, a New York based operator, to go to the Gold workshop coming up at the end of March in San Diego? Or would those participants be mainly California based people? Should I just wait until September for the Silver workshop in Brooklyn to make more NYC contacts?
  9. As someone who does not yet own their own rig, but is looking to at some point, I would like to know if the Steadicam Workshops, either Silver or Gold, are worth the price and beneficial in the long run? Or should I save the couple thousand and put that toward my future rig? Thanks in advance!
