  1. I had the same thought as you. Keep your eye out for the old Scout model. I went with that, as it's up there with the weight range of up to 18lb. The only issue I found was the first one I got only had s-video outputs in the base if the sled - so have to wrap a sdi cable around for it to work with my RED Raven. This will be coming to most Scouts. However, I did luckily then find another scout with an upgraded Monitor a 3g-sdi - a solid rig! If you can find the latter it's a very good option. Im booked in a silver workshop for July, check the workshops out if you can as they are dedicated to training with professionals. Good luck (to both of us)!
  2. Ok, I'm confused. I picked up a steadicam scout in Australia, it had the BNC connector input on the sled but a built-in RCA out on the base. The monitor has RCA/S-Video inputs and so a 3g out from my fs5ii obviously didn't work. I then picked up a steadicam scout in the UK whilst waiting for my other one to be shipped here and it has bnc input and a bnc output, pre plugged in to a 3g sdi port in an updated monitor. So the question is, can the internal cable of the one I picked up in Australia carry a 3g signal, and so if I just change the RCA output connectors I can get a 3g sdi signal through the steadicam to say an updated monitor (or perhaps put my Shogun on there)? I wasn't expecting to see a scout be able to carry a 3g sdi like the one I picked up so it's thrown me (in a good way hopefully)! Cheers, Nick
  3. Hi All, I am a newbie who had exposure to the Zephyr at Film School and recently had the chance to purchase a very good condition Scout for $3k AUD which spec-wise suits my RED Raven setup perfectly (mechanically). However, I didn't full appreciate the cable in the post was analog and not SDI, so now am trying to understand whether I can swap out this cable for an hd-sdi, or whether the best work around is just using an sdi to analog converter from black magic as part of my rig? I'd prefer the swap out as, as I get better, I'd like to throw my Shogun 7 on there in place of the stock monitor, or upgrade to a better hd-sdi monitor etc. Thanking you in advance for your help.
