  1. PM didn't work for me either... Can I get a copy too? Thanks! jean-nicolas.dorion@cirquedusoleil.com
  2. I know Eric. Sorry if you don't get my sense of humor. Cheers!
  3. I was just kidding. I never had the chance to try the Makohead either. The dampener that Lawrence pointed out looks like a good solution though (still could be quite heavy on the sled). I wish Bose would start doing stuff for us since there suspension system seams to work pretty well? http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_...n_challenge.jsp Like I said before? "I'd still never mount that thing on a sled!" Or maybe with a small 1ccd camcorder? Fly safe! ;)
  4. "At only 12" tall and less than 50 pounds" I'd never mount that thing on a sled!
  5. I totally second that. Tilman is a machine and the crew behind him as well! Even worth to buy the DVD and watch the making off... Lots of stairways and complicated moves + small cold outdoors scene that could've ruin everything when he got back inside... VERY amazing work.
  6. Hi Mark, It depends more on what you could do with the rig at the point you are now... Let's say you show up with a brand new Ultra2 on set but can't keep your horizon... I second what Job said, the V25 is a good system to start with, not the best though but certainly not the worst. BTW if you can't afford the rig... Invest in the workshop and continue to play with the Flyer if you can... Good luck!
  7. I second Job and Chip. Marianne is realy kind. Merci Marianne! She always answered my questions the same or the next day. (Even if I'm not a client yet) Just a couple of days before NAB... Be patient guys! Thanks again Matianne & Transvideo for your good customer service.
  8. Thanks for your input Brant, I hope to see you there for a beer if you are around... I want to thank as well all the seasoned operators that help us all to get better. I'll try to do the same in a couple of years... Fly safe!
  9. Hello guys, As an outsider in all of this, I was happy to finally see a satisfied MK-V customer... But here we go again... Howard just doesn't seem to know what's a patent for. He should'nt try to take credit or profits from someone else's ideas. Even though he looks like a good fellow and is really inspired in all he does, he needs to calm down and settle things out. I would have difficulty to trust MK-V and prefer to give my money and confidence in Garrett and Jerry which I respect over all... That's my opinion. Cheers!
  10. Thanks Rob. Now I can't choose between the June or October one! Just kiding. I can see nice colors here each year too... The sooner the better! Thanks for all your help guys. I made up my mind. Can't wait to get there. I'll try to make it to the Arrowhead Lake next time... Someone else thinking of going in Rockport in June?
  11. Too bad Eric. I would've been glad to meet you there! Fly safe
  12. Hello James, I knew David did it and was going to send him an email... Thanks for the tips!
  13. Does anyone have comments on Paul Taylor's 5 days Steadicam workshops at the International Film & Video Workshops facilities in Rockport, Maine? It's not very far from Montreal and I'm seriously thinking about going there next June. I'd like to go to one of the next Arrowhead Lake Classic workshop as well...
  14. NAB is coming soon and unfortunately I?m not going to be able to make it? The worst is that I?ll be in Vegas the 8th till the 12th! Working for the Cirque du Soleil, I?m going to see 3 of our shows and 2 backstage? at least I?m not going for nothing! I was wandering if any of you guys are going to be there the week before NAB. Maybe Eric is going to be there on the 8th for the Champ Car World Series in the streets of Vegas? I would be glad to meet any op over there or chat over a drink in our Revolution club (nothing to do with MK-V or Howard by the way, for those who have sense of humor)? Cheers from Montreal!
  15. That's the way to go! Watch, learn, help and work. Really nice of you Chris... I would've done the same if I was in New York area... The small workshop is a good idea as well. Being patient is necessary in this industry. Fly safe!
  16. As long as they don't sell that "brand new invention" 10K...
  17. Hello again Michel, I'd be glad to help you out if you get in Montreal area. The nearest workshops (I think) are in New York, Philadelphia or the Glidecam one near Boston... You can go to a 2 days basic class. It's gonna help a lot! It'll be mush easier with a well balanced setup and good exercise tips. For now, you can always walk the line back and forth (remember... try to keep your horizon) then use an apple box and step over it without loosing it... That's a nice start. (Try to have less headroom. It's an important thing as well) Sorry again beeing rude on my first post but I know couple of other experienced op that could've discourage you a lot more. Like you said again, it will only get better. Flying a steadicam is like jumping off a plane... Can't do that alone so it was really wise of you asking for help. Take care!
  18. Hello neigbour, Congradulation on getting your first rig. The V25 is a nice system to start with. However I'd strongly recomand that you get a workshop as soon as possible. It will answer a lot of questions you don't even think of and start you up on the right foot. Be patient before doing a reel... like you said "it's getting better with practice" and a lot of it! I don't want to be rude but it would've been possible to acheive about the same results handheld. Be sure to practice your horizon and check carefully your head room. Cheer up! For only four days w/o a workshop it's really not bad. Be humble... I still consider myself as a newbe after 5+ years of operating on a worst system than yours! Good luck and fly safe!
  19. I know those $ comes directly from your pockets but all the profits are coming back in your industry. With the exchange you're also doing a direct profit over $100 000 000 USD. And what are we Canadians going to see this weekend? All the movies are coming from your side of the border! I don't want to start a war here... Just want to see the other side of the story. Soon there will be a Canadian exode to your country if the situation doesn't change.
  20. Hello guys, I was wandering what you all think about syndicate conflicts. This year in Montreal, over $700 000 000 USD  are not going to be invested in our film industry. Hundreds of awesome technicians don?t know what to do to keep living. All of that cause of a small conflict between American and Canadian/Quebec syndicates. There's not even enough work and money for our own productions so imagine without yours coming here like usual... Well that really sucks for us... That 7 millions makes a big difference in our city and industry. Still loving our neighbours but with an empty stomach... ;)
  21. Hello all, I got rid of my two first reel and replaced them by this one... http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...eoid=1957404310 I'm missing a beautifull car to moto shot though... It's still a work in progress but I find it short and sweet. I like to get your feedback guys!
  22. Hello Rob, I think their concept of using feathers to help you "fly" this thing is radical. I'dd never take the chance to run with that rig though... Seriously did anyone ever try that? It's one thing to design things but it has to be practical too. I'm still laughing about that rig! Fly safe everyone!
  23. Thanks Rob, I think I.m going to be alright though... I just took a look at your reel. Didn't know you've been working on Jean-Jacque's Two Brothers. Very nice movie by the way and an awsome guy too. Cheers!
  24. Thanks Bryan, I was already planning on adding weight... It's so light! I'll have to shoot some of the shots at 48fps so I'll have to use 24V... But thanks for your reply. That's a good thing if your audio dept never complained. I'll only have to get sound at 24fps so if the sound level was good for your audio guys... It should work with mine! Thanks again!
