  1. Used rickshaw for sale. Comes with 2 seat height posts. Also has long vertical post for garfield mount, and short post if doing handheld. Located in Los Angeles. Asking $1750 OBO. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Alex
  2. I don't see how safety fenders would have changed the result a single bit, aside from crushing Usain's ankles. Somehow marketing for another Chris Fawcett product ends up in a Holway post, complete with trademark. This is no different than operating a steadicam on a Segway. Looking at a monitor while driving a vehicle is a bad idea, steadicam or easy rig. That is why griptrix, rickshaws, and any number of other vehicles exist where the operator doesn't have to drive. There have been no shortage of videos of steadicam ops crashing their segways as well. The operator was riding 3-5ft from Usain, which is too close, then made the awful idea of trying to get around the side.
  3. The Lock Dock sounds great, just tough to tell from the photos what is different about this docking ring vs. the Hill one. Does it wrap around the Pro locking collar and grab the post, therefore taking weight off the threads? Also good call on the bottom pad support, will definitely be looking into that.
  4. Ron, my rig broke 2 days ago from that exact reason! Docking ring on the collar that connects DBIII to post, threads wore down, rig fell apart. I now believe due to the vibrations caused while rolling rig over rough terrain. Thankfully no camera (or human) harm done, but now out of commission for at least a week. I put the Hill docking ring on the collar about 4 months ago, so it was 4 months of wear and tear before the threads finally gave out. Lesson learned: Either do not attached docking ring to the collar that holds everything together (i.e. attach docking ring directly to post), OR exercise extreme caution when transporting rig while attached to dock. Roll on super smooth surface, or carry rig by hand for all else. When the rig is resting on the cart, do you have anything to support the bottom, or still just docking ring on the upper post?
  5. Completely disagree. The gear is what enables a director's "vision", not gets in the way of it. By this logic we should just strap go pros to the director's face. A drone and a jib produce the same shots?
  6. Monitor, yoke, mount, lower junction box sold. Upper junction box and SD centerpost cable are still available.
  7. This is such a strange argument from someone who is trying to sell a product based on modularity. You're calling the M1 modular, yet you make the case for changing standards as a means of "looking to the future." So again, it's modular, but it won't actually fit with anything else. This would be like Arri coming out with a new baseplate, but it only fits the Alexa, and it uses the new and wonderful 17mm rods because their engineers think it's better. The engineers won't tell use why it's so much better, but we should buy it anyway.
  8. This thread got me to look up the definition of modular, because I'm curious how it's being advertised as such, when its components don't fit any other brand, and not even its own. 1. having parts that can be connected or combined in different ways. 2. constructed with standardized units or dimensions for flexibility and variety in use. source: Miriam Webster It doesn't seem to fit either of these definitions, unless one considers modularity to be the ability to be taken apart and put back together only with itself.
  9. Ron, I didn't know that Klassen drop down bracket existed. It seems like it might be very useful, and I'm about to start a 7 week movie with a child actor as the lead. The dp informed me that he expects most steadicam work to be low mode, though I haven't yet been given the actor's height. I'm wondering if this would enable me to be more comfortable. Can you briefly explain why you like it so much? Is it a lot more comfortable than being boomed up in lowmode? Also, how quick can the adapter be put on and off? Brian, I've also been told to only shoot certain sides of faces, never square on, etc. There's another female artist who will only be shot on her left profile and 3/4, never straight on or her other side. I noticed some strange blocking in her previous videos, and things seemed very mechanical. She rarely moved her head much. Then when I ended up working with her, i learned the reason, which was she doesn't let photographer shoot anything but left side.
  10. Well these comments don't happen all the time! But they sometimes do, and then I remember them because my therapist says I'm self-conscious and always seeking approval from others. She also tells me to avoid lowmode as much as possible for mental health purposes.
  11. Hah I guess we have different experiences, I feel like I always hear more coming from village about why the image is upside down. And then there's always someone asking if the text will be backwards when the image is flipped in post. I now say yes, but it's ok because a lot of americans can't read properly anyway. Brian, I find that when someone is sitting, staying in high mode is usually the best way to go because it's just above eye level, which I feel is a better option than just below eye level. Looking slightly down at someone is more flattering to their face than looking slightly up at them. If they're sitting on the floor, or on something shorter than regular chair height, low mode it is. You are, however, several inches taller than me, so my regular mode while someone is sitting may be more eye level than yours. Jordan, I agree backgrounds above are often prettier and have more depth than the floor, however I've often been told by female actors that they prefer the camera just above eye level to avoid looking up their nose. Men are generally ok shooting from slightly below, and often prefer it. Makes them look/feel more respectable, or more intimidating. There was one female pop star that pops into my mind that would nearly freak out if she felt the lens drift below her nose. I requested she take off her 4 inch heels (that we don't see) that added to her already 5'10" height, to which she politely declined.
  12. Hi Chris, I'm currently not parting anything out yet, but if I do, I will let you know.
  13. Hi Jordan, First of all, why on earth do you love lowmode? Second, my strategy for lowmode is this. The DP shows me the lens height wanted, and I either say ready (because I'm already capable), or 3-5 minutes for flip. I never tell them less, even if I plan to beat it. I always build in contingency time in case something goes wrong (i.e. trouble with village monitor flipping..). It's always better to beat the time estimate, than not. If they have a problem with waiting, then they get to stay in regular mode and have a higher lens height than requested. If someone thinks that flipping to lowmode takes 60 seconds, then that same person thinks it takes 5 minutes to move and re-level 20 ft dolly track on grass, and then, frankly, who cares what they think. Victor, I agree with you about the "gray area." I find hips to waist is mine. I've never had an issue with a DP giving me trouble about being an inch or two too high or low. Occasionally the lens truly does need to be at a specific height, such as running the lens along a table's edge, but that's usually something a few pancakes/qtr apples will solve, or, as Will said, adding a longer armpost to lowmode.
  14. 1st item for sale: - PRO 2 SD upper junction box - PRO 2 SD lower junction box - PRO SD centerpost cable All functions properly, and cosmetically is pretty good, light wear. Pictures can be found here: https://plus.google.com/photos/108604655846609704016/albums/6116643587028607489?authkey=CKCxuob-1pWg1AE Asking price is $1500 OBO 2nd item for sale: - Custom telescoping monitor mount, carbon fiber rods - Cinetronic Gen 1 monitor - Cinetronic Gen 1 yoke For the monitor, there's wear on monitor housing and back ports, and some scratches on the monitor itself. Chris Bangma from cinetronic (If he's still around...) said the front glass is replaceable, however I never found the scratches too noticeable once the monitor is on. The second issue are sticky menu buttons. They all work, just sometimes a button needs to be pressed a couple times for it to register. Other than that, the image clear and bright. The yoke just needs thumb screws. Also, the post clamp on the monitor mount may need a spacer depending on post size. Pictures can be found here: https://plus.google.com/photos/108604655846609704016/albums/6116641910088430545?authkey=CKndwt7ZuN6LPA Asking price for both is $1250 OBO Thanks, and please PM me with any questions, or use the contact info on my website in my signature.
  15. I have not received the rebate, and I submitted in late October. Was planning to call this week to get a status. Very happy with the monitor, though I'm using it as a director's monitor or operating monitor, not on the steadicam. Can be used in full sunlight without a hood, which was the most important aspect to me. Exposure and focus tools are good.
  16. I'm selling my 2 Paralinx HDMI wireless HD systems. Both are in perfect working order. System "A": -Paralinx HD HDMI transmitter -Paralinx HD HDMI receiver -Paralinx Shield -USB-DTAP 5V regulator -USB transmitter power -USB receiver power -AC receiver power $800 OBO Photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/108604655846609704016/ParalinxAWirelessHD System "B": -Paralinx HD HDMI transmitter -Paralinx HD HDMI receiver -Paralinx Shield - (2) USB-DTAP 5V regulator -USB transmitter power -USB receiver power -AC receiver power Photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/108604655846609704016/ParalinxBWirelessHD $840 OBO The only difference between the two systems is that "B" includes a second USB-DTAP 5V regulator, so both the transmitter and receiver can both be powered off DTAP. However, this cable can be easily purchased from Paralinx for $59. I am located in Los Angeles, and will ship throughout the contiguous USA for free. For payment, I will accept PayPal only, unless picked up locally, in which I will accept cash. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions through PM, or the contact information that can be found on my website in my signature.
