James Puli replied to Johnathan Holmes's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
Ive got the Atomos Shogun Flame! Its great! 1500 nits and doubles for a backup Steadicam monitor for studio work (its pretty reflective). Absolutely worth the extra cash over the BlackMagic! -
I know Greg Bubb did a bunch of Entourage... including the Playboy mansion shots from a similar season, so he would be my first guess!

Distinguishing Flyer from Flyer LE
James Puli replied to Grant Peacock's topic in General Discussion
It's very easy... The Flyer LE center post extends. The original Flyer has a fixed center post. I think there's a slightly different colour arm depending on the generation also, but otherwise they're pretty much the same! -
I think Dave Hable @ Cramped Attic upgrades these as well.... Though when I asked him a few years ago it was rather expensive and I ended up buying new! JP

Hey Jake. Head to SMPTE in July. There'll be rigs around, have a play, get a feel for them. I know I'll be there at some point checking out new toys and seeing what's happening. Once you've done your training and figured out what you like and what you don't like in a rig, then make a decision. I hear a lot about people buying gear before doing workshops and knowing what they want / need / love / hate in a rig and regret their purchases. Dan will only have Tiffen rigs there Im sure, but he's a great guy and knows his stuff! I haven't been to the new LA factory yet as I missed Cinegear this year. Who knows, there may be a rig or 2 for sale in Australia in the not too distant future. In fact I know there's a Zephyr and another bigger rig for sale right now! And remember you don't need to spend $40k upwards on your first rig. Don't be afraid to buy an older 2nd hand rig, build your skills and upgrade as you can afford to! Thats what I did and its worked pretty well for me. Any q's hit me up! Im in Syd for a job next week at this stage! JP

Fuji Cabrio 19-90 lens internal focus/zoom control cable?
James Puli replied to Osvaldo Silvera SOC's topic in Follow Focus
I use my G-zoom with my 19-90 lens no problems at all. There are a series of dip switches on the front of the handgrip controller that help control the settings etc. When you power the camera up with the controller on there, the lens should cycle through the full range on the zoom, focus etc so Blake maybe you had a power cycling thing? Will have another play when i get a chance! -
Lightweight rig rental in China
James Puli replied to Alexander Pauckner's topic in General Discussion
Salon Films is the Panavision rep company in China (or at least Hong Kong, but I think they have a Beijing office) and from memory they have a couple Of Steadicams available. They'd be your best bet to get started with.- 1 reply
