  7. Hey Kyle, are you happy with the iBaird. I have replaced my provest with the WK backmounted vest as the Pro socketblock is way too high. However I find the Pro vest so much more comfortable. Are you happy with the iBaird? What is the weight distribution like. Any pressure points? The WK vest squeezes a nerve in my left groin quite badly, leading to stinging and tingling in my upper leg. Nothing I do seems to improve it. So now considering the iBaird... Thanks best regards Daniel
  8. This is an old topic but I do have some questions about the ibaird. I have replaced my Pro vest with a WK backmounted vest due to the high socketblock and have been using that for a while. I find that the WK vest puts lots of pressure on my left groin squeezing a nerve and causing pain and fatigue in my left leg. I have tried different sizes and cut out some padding but the nerve still gets thoroughly squeezed. So today I pulled out my Pro vest and find it so much more comfy and light weight. However, the socket block is way too high. I'm 6'4 and fairly skinny. So now I'm considering the ibaird but there is no place I can try it in Munich, Germany. I would like to hear of your general experience and the weightdistribution. Cheers Daniel
  9. I have been using the Transvideo HD6 SBL for a few years now and besides that it is indestructable and has many great features, the glossy screen is a nightmare outside. On a sunny/cloudy day all I see is the sky above me. I helped myself by sticking one of those antigloss screens for ipads on the glass which helped a fair bit with reflections but made the picture very "unsharp". I dealt with that for the last two years but for some stupid reason decided to take it off hoping to be positively surprised. Once again it was a battle to see anything besides the sky and clouds. For my next shoot I'll wake my ananolg GPI green montior from hibernation. This thing just rocks outside :-)

  11. I have been using the Wave1 a lot and I love it. It's always on my rig. There are some situations where I prefer to shoot with it turned off. A few times when setting up my rig the Wave wouldn't power on. The first time that happened it totally stressed me out however I found the solution is disconnecting the power cable for a second... and in the worst case just shoot without it. (Note aside: If a gimbal stalls, your screwed) The Wave does raise the camera a fair amount. With heavy cameraloads you either need to extend the sled bottom very far, or if you want to fly compact you'll need to counterweight with heavy batteries. I use a Pro rig. I have the assistant set up the camera more or less in balance, just how I would fly it without the wave. Never ran into off balance issues. It's an excellent tool that lets you forget about horizon to a degree and concentrate on the frame.

  14. I recently came back from a one day commercial shoot where I ran into some nasty problems. I arrived at the set, set up my GPI PRO Rig, put the Moviecam LT on and ran my quick test that everything works. We were shooting at 25 fps. My AB Hytron 50 batteries were fresh and fully charged, the 12/24V switch set to 24V and everything set up correctly but the camera would not speed up to 25 fps. Also the jumper block was the correct one (feeding the Monitor separately from CAM/ACC) At the same time the monitor kept going on and off in a similar pattern as the camera jumping from 24- 24.7 fps. We found a cheap solution that pretty much defeats the purpose of using a steadicam but it made the job work for the situation, thank god. Has any one had any similar experience. Hytron Batteries not feeding sufficient power? / Too thin cabling in the GPI post? I really don't want to run into this problem again, especially now that cameras are getting more and more power hungry. Thanks for any advice.
  15. I am considering to have my PRO sled upgraded to HD. Before doing so I have two questions. If I do an HD upgrade to my PRO sled, will I still be able to run my usual SD setup with the PRO monitor and the and the sleds electronic bubble? In the HD setup- How I understand it, the HD monitor is directly powered by an attached battery brick and the signal is fed through an SDI cable coming from the batterymodule. I would be happy to hear from anyone hwo has experience with this. regards Daniel
  16. I don't know if this is the right place to ask but here's my question anyway. 17. Hi guys, For all those who have some experience with gyros, I hav a shoot coming up where I will be mounting the steadicam to a vehilce. I will also be using gyros to get some extra stability. Since I am a newbie with gyros, I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations or preferences where on the sled to mount them. I have two gyros available. I would be very thankful for any advice. Daniel
  18. Hey guys, I have a shoot coming up where the DP asked for a shot in "low- high mode". I did some research and found a shot at steadishots.org by Tom Lohmann (thank you for smoking) which is apparently done in low-high mode. The description says it creates an awkard position to hold. With this in consideration, I understand that in low- high mode, the setup would be: lowmode with a long armpost extention? Would there be any other way to do low-high mode besides shifting the gimbal all the way up in normal mode? Cheers Daniel
