  1. Alan it is both. We had to spin a new pcb in the receiver and on the transmitter we can physically add a button or by software put it on the touchscreen. Still in the air on most efficient way to upgrade and keep cost to a minimum.
  2. Thanks. I hear a lot of associations to "Swiss Army Knife" first time I heard "Leatherman" I like that too. It was my goal to make it click and snap in to positions much like knife or solid piece of hardware and I think I succeeded. It will be at WPPI tomorrow and NAB a month from now.
  3. Heading to WPPI in Las Vegas to demo this new unit. This was shot in Austin on a Red Scarlet. This is our newest stabilizers / multi function device please see the video and see what you think of commercial and device. Tom
  4. James and Evrim, We utilize a certain technology and have had exceptional and even fantastic performance. The situation you describe would probably be the worst imaginable and probably could have just as easily been a problem for a Preston as well. What I do like hearing is we are being used side by side with a Preston costing probably 15,-20k more. Regarding wireless performance I can tell you that in convention center buildings we have seen most wireless controls fail and be completely inoperable where we have never had a problem. I really appreciate all input if we can improve the products we will do it. Tom in other words a wireless hell:) I think this experience is more about preston's exeptional signal strenght rather then varizoom's shortcommings. But they may want grab the bar raised by Preston. :)
  5. Hi Victor, That was true and was not such a problem for many of our customers using in different applications. We have added it in the newest version, with additional features as well, that we expect to release in April and show at NAB. Our system does offer some features found on much higher end systems costing significantly more. If you wish to start with a single channel but keep the option of expanding you can buy our 3 channel unit with just one motor and add two channels (zoom and Iris / 2 more channels) later as our receiver handles all three channels. So no need for additional receivers just buy another drive motor(s). Tom
  6. Actually we do have it now Rob and will ship in April. I appreciate your point on this and we do have in our next version start stop and additionally land option of lens memory of calibration of multiple lens set ups. Our system does have other advantages such as a single receiver for operating 1 2 or 3 channels rather than the need to attach two more receivers to camera for zoom and iris. Please stop by NAB and check it out.
  7. Dustin, If you would like to consider the VariZoom TOC you can call the office during regular business hours and speak to Steve Cinti 512-739-1881

  9. Tom here from VariZoom. It's been a while since VariZoom has advertised with S.F. but with our investment in wireless controls in the last 5 years I figured it was time. We have 1, 2, & 3, channels systems. We have a detailed video and webpage you can learn more about here: http://www.varizoom....ocus-s/1822.htm We will be at NAB as well as Cinegear Expo 2013
  10. Hello everyone. This is Tom McKay from VariZoom. VariZoom is a new sponsor on the steadicamforum site. I read some misinformation regarding the Hollywood Lite company going "belly up" in another post and I wanted to clear up this rumor as it is hardly the case. Ned Steeves and Garry Tull owned and operated the Hollywood lite company for many years and prior to that both had worked a good many years for Steadicam. VariZoom had recently patented a small handheld stabilizer called the FlowPod. The success of the FlowPod also lead to more enthusiasm and requests to broaden the line. I was impressed with the Hollywood Lite product quality and so it seemed like a good fit when the three of us got together and considered working together. VariZoom acquired the Hollywood Lite stabilizer line but Ned and and Garry are still very much involved in manufacturing and developing new and innovative gear under the VariZoom name. In fact they are busier than ever and we plan to show off some great new innovations for the steadicam operator at NAB 2005. I hope anyone attending NAB 2005 will be sure to stop by our booth and try out some of our latest products. Ned, Garry, and myself will all be there. If you can't make it to NAB 2005 no worries. VariZoom has distributors worldwide and we do shows in many countries outside the USA. We appreciate suggestions and new ideas from operators. We are a full machine shop and we are anxious to hear about a problem that need to be solved or ideas that will improve operations. Tom
