  1. I'll take my rig to a cnc guy and get that hole drilled, then. Thank you, Jerry.
  2. Hi Jerry, thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm aware that the pin is needed - but I was wondering if a clamping gimbal handle also was important, or if the pin was enough to hold it all.
  3. How important is the clamping on the gimbal to hold the rig upside down? My rig (Glidecam x-45) doesn't have a clamp on the gimbal nor a hole for the pin. Considering drilling the hole, but if the clamp on the gimbal is important here, I won't.
  4. 6'3" operator here. My PRO-vest arrived the other day ( :D), luckily the ibaird came along with it. First tried the vest with the original bracket - the arm got way to high up, and I got tired of holding my elbow so high to avoid bumping it into the arm. Then put on the ibaird - perfect. I can now do both "low" and "normal" height shots, and my elbow is more free/relaxed. And as Job says, the weight is more on the hips, much better. For me it's a full time bracket.
  5. So I got the stand the other day. It's great. And I take back what I said about weels on a stand. I love them. Here's a pic from a gig I did on a cruise ship yesterday. Rolled that rig all over the place.
  6. Great topic Janice, I hope and think this thread is gonna grow big. I really liked the tape on arm-tip! Here are two from me: 5) Staying hydrated is important. I put a piece of velcro on my docking bracket and another under my water bottle. Now it´s always nearby when I dock the rig, and I can freely move the stand around without taking the bottle off. 6) I'm no flat-foot. Therefore I'm using up-bended soles with cushioning in my shoes to get the whole foot supported. Like walking on air.
  7. Just curious, is that a glidecam sled?
  8. aaand I think CVP buys them from Tiffen - according to the package I received from CVP (had stickers by Tiffen and FGS-900073 is Tiffen's product code). The shipping costs were something like €9 to Finland.. All thumbs up for CVP! 2 rise LS32 stands are perfect for the job and you can forget the sandbags. 2 rise (2 telescoping sections) is also good if you have a superpost to balance. Caster wheel set work well in studio enviroment when the set decorator decides to have a wall built just there where it was OK to set up your base camp 15 minutes ago.. Wheels are good add-ons to take with you when you want but weigh quite a bit. I take mine off (10 sec job) when I know there's not going to be a flat floor to roll around :) Lykke til Stig! Tusen takk Tuomas! I just ordered the stand from CVP. Went a little nuts and added the wheels as well. Now I'll be rolling on the floors like a madman for sure. Interesting to see what preferences people have when it comes to the docking stand. Thank you for all responses, guys :) Best, Stig
  9. You could also go for the Glidecam gold bracket: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/820191-REG/Glidecam_GLGDDBRKT_Gold_Series_Balance_and.html I think it will fit with the x-22, but double check with glidecam first: http://www.glidecam.com/contact.php
  10. Turns out the site I linked to only ships to US. I'm located in Norway. Found an international dealer: http://cvp.com/index.php?t=product/steadicam_fgs-900073 Not sure how wide that base is, it doesn't say. If anyone have an international dealer to recommend, let me know. Too bad my 1650 case already is stuffed with...stuff.
  11. Hello, Looking for an American Stand, preferably the Black 2 riser LS32. With or without wheels. stig.indrebo@gmail.com Thanks, Stig
  12. Thanks for your reply Ron. Yeah no i'm not very fond of the idea of using weels on the stand myself, although I've never tried it. Shooting too much out in the woods etc with bulky terrain and obstacles. I'll probably go for the wider base. Cant stand (...) an unstable docking station ;)
  13. Hi, I´m looking for a good docking stand for heavy rigs. I hear good things about the American Stand, and found an online dealer: http://www.filmandvideolighting.com/amsttstbl1ri.html I see there's two options for the base: Standard-12instraps and wide-14instraps. I would guess the wider base is the way to go for spin balancing a heavy rig, without necessary having to put a sandbag on it. Anyone having experience with this? And if you have another stand to recommend, feel free to scream it out. Thanks, Stig
  14. My 1650 package: - sled - arm - monitor + batteries - docking bracket + allen keys - small blue case with misc. screws (it also helps the arm laying completely still) - mounting plate - flat iron - BNC's - extra allen keys - luggage weight (for weighing cameras) - extra arm posts (hiding in the side of the case) - sun hood for monitor (also hiding in the side) - and of course a leatherman 59 lbs. :-)
  15. What handgrips do people prefer for circling shots? I´m currently experimenting with different types, like the one where you place your thumb and pinky (to keep horizon) on one side of the gimbal and the rest on the other. See pic.
  16. http://vimeo.com/86886831 Did the steadicam shots in this commercial. One of them is being time remapped trough different time periods in Norway - We go from 1950s -->1970s-->1990s-->2013. It's a pretty simple shot, but it had some timing and stuff to it. Think it turned out ok. Starts at 00:32. And no, I didn't actually travel in time with my steadicam, although that would have been really cool.
  17. Really nice shot, Philip. Love all the energy. Missionary or DJ?
  18. Thank you Elliot. :) Currently flying a Glidecam x45/Gold system.
  19. Mike, Thank you for your notes. I agree the reel should be shorter. I guess I had too many darlings i didn¨t wanna kill. Yes, some shows are too repetitive, I'll probably toss out a lot of shots in the next version. I wanted to show a variety of movements (like running, circling etc), therefore some shows are more included than others. I agree the bald guy for instance is too much exposed. I tried to tell his little "story" throughout the reel; Him coming out of his car -> walking towards something->camera turns 180 and we see he´s walking towards a crashed car. I´ll probably cut most of this out. Appreciate your feedback! Best, Stig
  20. So you´ve been dying to watch my first steadicam showreel, you say? Don´t worry, the wait is over. Here it is. Been operating for about 2 years now. The reel contains footage from shorts, commercials, music videos and web series from early 2012 to late 2013. Mostly productions in Norway. Starting to get the hang of it, but still got a lot to learn. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks https://vimeo.com/80188507
  21. (first post!) Take a look at this: Plenty of exercises.
