  1. I agree, very nice software, especially the „timeline reference“ for the camera operators. But it can only be used if you have a pre-recorded soundtrack, some kind of choreography & professional artists. Or am I wrong?
But you´re right: My monitor should work. BON has a new Product Manager...
  4. I don´t want to publish the price, Jens. If anyone has the right to do this it is Jay who organized the group buy. He did a great job and I´m still thankful for that. The problem is now with BON. Some of the monitors have mechanical issues. Not mine but the 2nd one that went to Stuttgart/Germany has some. There is a software/firmware problem. Firmware updates & manuals should be on the BON site. The accessories Bon sells with that monitor are not made for steadicam use. The sun hood is much to heavy & bulky. The DTAP Plug is so soft. No problem to insert it the wrong way. The screen protector should have an anti-reflex coating. The monitor does have some really nice features. The scalable picture in picture feature for instance. It is possible to have a small window with the program signal inserted into the picture. This could make a separate program monitor obsolete. But as long as the software is so weak, I don´t have the confidence to use it for live work.
  5. I tried to activate the Auto Flip (for low mode). The monitor was still upright. H / V changed instantly including the on screen menu. Trying to fix that with mirror letters upside down drives you crazy. After I had switched off auto flip the monitor worked. I changed the camera battery and when the SDI signal came back to the monitor it was completely H/V reversed, incl. letters and numbers on the on screen menu. Once again I was trying to find the Auto Flip button (still was off) switched it on, monitor worked. I switched the camera off and on, when the signal came back again complete H/V reverse…. I changed to my backup monitor. I fixed it again at home and since that time it is working. I did not find a way to do the V-flip manually. I can assign that function to F2 and toggle through the options. The OSD states H flip, V flip, H/V flip but nothing flips. Everytime I dock the rig to my (spring loaded) Sachtler bracket the signal disappeares for a moment. Comes back right away but this is not inspiring confidence. The bon website gives you informations like „What is the advantages if I use an on-camera monitor?“ but no manuals or firmware updates. I´m not very happy with the monitor.

  7. It is still listed on the mk-v website... http://www.mk-v.com/?p=2433
  8. The Pro manual states on page 20: Orientation of the socket block adapter assembly is critical in that, the Arm should never be mounted in such a way that the weight is applied parallel to the axis. This incorrect axis orientation is always present when using back mounted vests. Are there any known issuses caused by using a PRO Arm with a Klassen vest? Any modifications recommended?
  9. Hi Kevin, 1.) DC „locking“ connector. You´ll have to get a custom cable which connects to your rig. 2.) Buy a new decimator 2. Maybe you´ll need the warranty, the decimator is not the most reliable tool. 3.) Velcro is fine if you got enough flat space on the back of your monitor. 4.) It´s BNC to BNC 5.) The problem with the Blackmagic is input voltage. The Blackmagic is made for 12 Volt. A fully charged LiIon outputs 16 Volts or more. The Decimator has a range of 5 to 22 Volts.

  11. OConnor Model 50 D Fluidhead I bought this several years ago at Dedo Weigert, Munich. Dedo Weigert has been the German distributor for O´Connor until they became part of the Vitec Group. This fluid head was part of their demo units. Since I bought it, it stayed in the transport case, I never owned a tripod with a flat base mount. The fluid head is in a pristine condition, almost like new. It comes with the original O´Connor carrying case. Asking €500 / 650 $ pictures here, PayPal accepted if you pay half of the fee will ship worldwide contact: filmtv@gmx.de

  14. Superfast reply from Mike (Teradek). Maybe the problem is with the distributor...
  15. I bought a Teradek Bolt earlier this year. I tested it for 5 minutes when it was delivered. After that I had it in the shelf for a couple of weeks, I was still using my old Teletest RF Videosystem. In October I had a job using a camera with no CVBS-out. The day before I tested the Teradek again. It worked 2 minutes before it went down (no signal sent from the transmitter). I sent it back to the distributor. In mid November I got a call from them: The unit has to be send to England. Maybe it will be back by the end of December. Almost 3 months downtime is nothing I expect from a manufacturer for professional equipment.
  16. The Mike Tapas Adapter works only with lenses that do have a range extender and the range extender has to be engaged. A 4,5 mm Super Wide Angle becomes a 9 mm. 9 mm on a (2/3 inch) video zoom as widest choice, that was good in 1988. (I don´t know what "real" focal length comes out of the adaptor, it magnifies). You loose light and the lens gets soft. Range extenders are nice to have but working all the time with them engaged is not what they are intended for. I hope Arri has a better solution.
  17. That is a real killer feature, and this camera will be a game changer more than RED, Sony F-Series, Blackmagics or Panasonics AF-100 ever have been. These box cameras look like they were designed by the Brothers Lumiere and they do have ergonomics from the 19th century. Camera design is back!
  18. According to Arri´s information on their „Amira Microsite“ there will be an option for a B4 mount. What is it good for? Does this come with some kind of optical converter? Will there be an „electronic 16 mm mode“, in which only part of the sensor is used ? As far as I know the only single sensor camera that can deal with 2/3 inch broadcast lenses is Panasonic´s HPX 600. B4 lenses are made for 3CCD/3CMOS setups.
  19. Not so! Heating in the power line is caused by current not by wattage. The more you raise the voltage, the smaller the diameter of the wire can be. That’s why we have 230 Volts in Europe. It´s more dangerous, but we do need much less copper in our power lines.
