  1. Since he already got this thread going I like to add a question of my own. I like to know which other lenses Canon L series will be good for 5DM3 that I will be flying with. I used the 20-35mm 2.8L (old lens) which I borrowed from a friend each time I need. I like to get my own lens as mainly for flying. I really like the 20-35, I would set it to 20mm and it pretty much focus easy...thanks.
  2. That is awesome trick..and nice work on the steadicam, just liked you paged.
  3. zephyr, cna you send pics, I like to see it Jerry@complexmotion.com

    Thanks,

  4. I am a newbie, I am still learning, I am building my own cheap rig, I am closure to balancing my rig, I am practicing each wedding I cover, I am practicing at home, I am setup new configuration for it. I am hopefully be able to afford the archer or one below that next year.
  5. Today, I successfully drilled and spliced the hdmi cables. Gave it enough slack for the cable if I move stage up or down as well as the bottom. I know it's not like the real deal, but it's balance. I hope to buy the a real one end of next year once I save up enough...for now this is fun. Learned so much by doing this, I will take the workshop and buy the book.
  6. Question, when the police see you like that, will they usually pulls you over and ask for permits etc? I help out on a few test pilot shot and that is the 2nd thing I worried about. 1st is safety and 2nd pull over and ticketed.
  7. Can't afford the real stuff, this little mod here and there served what I need.
  8. I recently just join and msg a few members here and all given good advises. Like to introduce myself. I am a photographer and recently picked up video late 2011 and geared up well early 2012 for my wedding events. It's one of those thing where, if you want it done right you gotta do it yourself! By all mean, I'm not great at writing...so go easy on me. Any, as my video search for different gears, I stumble on flycam 5000, at one point or another a few time I was almost able to get it balance. Hated, sold it and ran into Glidecam HD 4000 on youtube. Ordered one and was easier to setup, got the balance right. Since my video hardly ever use his steadicam merlin, I sold it for him and he kept the vest and arm. I ended up buying the vest and arm from him, story store, I just keep on researching how to modified the arm post and came across cheesycam. Fast forward, helped out on a shoot, the camera they gave me was to heavy for my arm and setup at the time as I moved the bottom telescoping post to the top of the gimbal so I can move the top stage up and down, and ordered a 2nd telecscoping post with clam for the bottom so I can adjust it up and down. look at a few arms on the net and found this site. Some of the setup you guys have are nice. Here is a few pics my setup...dont have pics of my new setup yet..these are a month ago.
  9. This is what I'm doing with my modified glidecam, this was a few months ago, I recently added the curved handle and an addition telescoping post on the top.
