  1. I have an analog Bartech and Bolt 300 as part of my kit rental. It's the minimum needed to fly Steadicam properly. I don't want to have to tell the production that I can't work because the AC didn't do the checkout right and the WFF isn't working is something like that. If the production wants something better, they can rent it (won't change my rental price), but I will still come with my systems as backup (and it saved me a few times).
  2. Hi, this Name issue has been bugging me. I went to the Create Account page, and yes, it does ask for the user's Real Full Name, but that would require the user to read it. I had tow slight design ideas that might help. First idea would be to have some placeholder text (see photoshop mockup) in the box to guide the user. Second idea would be to have two separate boxes, one for the First Name (ideally with a placeholder text as well) then bellow a second line for the Last Name. Then have the result of both cases added together to create the Username string.
  3. I would highly recommend the handbook. To answer your question, well you answered it yourself. Shorter drop you get pendulum effect when you change your speed (start and stop a move) I make it more bottom heavy for really slow moves or standing still moments. But then tilts are incredibly painful. slow drop is great for car mount since it is less prone to the acceleration pendulum and tilts in the turns.
  4. I much prefer many short breaks (even a 3second on the dock can help) to one long break where your body just cools down and you then you have to put on the cold vest on like a wet bathing suit. Also always keep a big smile (even if you are in pain) and if they ask does it hurt just say no it doesn't.
  5. I've had this same issue on Late Night With Seth Meyers a while back. Slow mo, no picture on my DP7 HiBright, No picture on my DP6. I ended up shooting it looking at the top monitor...
  6. Hi Omar, Welcome to the Steadicam forum. I don't think this forum is the most ideal place to ask this question, as it centers more around Steadicam than the electronic gimbals. Also, the forum policy requires that you use your full name (First and Last name) as your screen name. Please reach out to an admin to have it changed.
  7. Hey guys. I had a look at the Peliair. They are nice for light still photo gear but I wouldn't recommend it for a Steadicam rig if you plan on banging it around like we so on set and in trucks. The air cases will collapse if you step or sit on them for instance. I use Pelican Storm cases (they have the letters IM in front of the name) they are a bit lighter than the standard pelican cases but as sturdy (I can stand on my sled case without issues and i sit on it all the time) but the great thing about the storm are the latched. They don't hurt your fingers. I always hated the pelican latches and tenue loud clank when you open and close. Those have a tiny click when they are locked and still close firmly. Love then and would recommend them any time.
  8. Yep this looks like post vibrations. Make sure everything is tightly attached. You can also tighten a line between the matte box and your monitor yoke to stiffen your rig that might help
  9. Yeah, I had the same issue, but getting a tidy rig can't beat getting a reliable image. Also, You need to connect the HD line on the front of the top stage.
  10. The Hirose is only rated for SD. Use the separate SDI line for HD.
  11. Used Zephyr can be found at around $6500 and maybe less now that the aero is out. Steadicam rigs, if maintained well will not age much and still be usable years later. Just something to consider when buying. That being said the aero looks great, there's no denying that.
  12. I havent tinkered with the Aero but the sled looks really well thought out. For a similar price You might still want to look into a Zephyr, you get one more SD video line (useful for video return) and some 3 pin lemo connectors (that match the bigger Tiffen sleds and the PRO Cine Live so you can keep your cables when you upgrade (I did)
  13. The rating of the Tiffen are often under their actual lift capacities, so I'm not surprised of that. Also the lift capacities from tiffen are camera payloads, so that's why the number might be small that the actual lift capacity.
  14. Keep the clamp above, like that you can swap arm posts quickly. One thing you can do is replace the tightening screw with a kipp handle (McMaster Carr part number 6320K12) so when you put your arm on the stand the post doesn't pop out.
  15. Yes like that. Just wondering if someone has some they would sell used or if there are any other alternatives.
  16. Thomas, the correct website is cam-jam.de (not cine) and yes the Quattro mount is amazing. I have it on my Pro Ciné Live and love it. The mount can be customized to many monitors including the DP7 (that o have)
  17. Hi, I'm looking for some motor rods/support rods to mount on the PRO dovetail.
  18. Cheapest is consumer HDMI wireless transmitter on eBay like the Nyrius Pro. Otherwise go with a used Bolt gen 1. It will be better than the clip (clip is not meant for focus and will only bring pain and frustrations)
  19. Reading this on my commute to set and now I'm all emotional in the train. Beautifully said, thank you so much for sharing.
  20. Optical Support in the UK might be able to help you, they repair and service Tiffen rigs https://opticalsupport.com/service/tiffin-steadicam-repairs/
  21. Not button down, but I wold not wear anything else than a Uniqlo Airism shirt while operating. Dries in a few minutes. Changed my life.
  22. Start with something small, like a used Flyer, a Pilot, or a Zephyr if you need larger cameras. Then a couple of years later, when you feel the need and your small rig is limiting you, upgrade your system to a big boy. No need to invert $40,000 for a maybe I like it, not sure and loose all that money, just start with a rig under $10,000
  23. Hi, Laing has a really bad reputation and their gear is sub par even com pairing to their specs. The best thing you can do is look for a used rig in the marketplace. Steadicam is expensive if you are looking for quality. For a Red or Alexa mini, you can look for a Zephyr (there are some for sale used right now)
