  1. Hello I am selling my Steadicam Zephyr package. It comes with the standard vest, hard case with wheels, CF post (sled), arm with 24 lb payload capacity and some extras. It has a V-lok plate, is wired for HD (SDI), has a steadicam branded Marshall Monitor that takes HD-SDI, component and composite signals. It was purchased a little over 2 years ago. Has seen light use (pic Arm7.jpg still shows some factory tape) and always well cared for. No dry rentals. Always in the hard case when not in use. Reason for selling--I have a minor back issue that flairs up on occasion. I have had this for 20 years and just recently "retired" from golf because of it. The steadicam seems to affect me in just the right way to make the condition act up. With my kids getting more involved and extra curriculars, I have made a lifestyle choice to spend time with them and not trying to recover after every operating day. In the pictures you can see a small "knick" on the arm. (picture Arm6.jpg). That is the only damage to the rig other than a paint chip here and there. The camo colored wrap on the post is tennis grip tape and will be removed before it ships. Included is a arm cover or gator that helps weather proof the arm from water and sand. I am including a 5 lb weight plate (cheese plate) made by Thompson. it and thru and thru holes and a lot of 1/20 threaded mounting spots. With the lighter cameras in use todya this was invaluable in getting the rig balanced correctly and keeping the gimble close to the stage. The shipping weight of the rig in the case with the weight plate is 65.4 lbs. Low enough to meet media rate shipping restrictions on most airlines. F bracket is included for low mode operation. Extra post clamp locks are included. Package price is $8350 + $50 shipping. I have 65 detailed photos of the rig at this link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1tdq9wz0popqojz/AAA2u7tC0nq4NceUotneRckSa?dl=0 Feel free to look them over and ask me any questions. steve@focusedmotion.com I am open to phone conversations about the rig. However, do to a heavy production scheudle the next few weeks, it would be better to use email to schedule a call.
  2. I sent you an email. My Zephyr system is now up for sale. V-lok, HD-SDI, well cared for and has a 5 lb weight plate included. Steve@focusedmotion.com
  3. Ryan, I've got 4 IDX batts that are not part of the rotation anymore. Still working and hold a decent change. steve@focusedmotion.com
  4. This might be below your needs, but I am getting ready to list my Zephry. steve@focusedmotion.com
  5. That's great work. Awesome examples for us to mirror. Thank you.
  6. A couple months back we used a teradek when shooting in an empty OP. We were in later in the day so not to interfer with patients. Because the floor was mostly empty Its virtually impossible to know if there would have been any interference with other equipment. We had a hospital tech guy there and I talked it over with him. He figured that even if there were patients in the area the operating frequence of the Teradek (5.1-5.8GHZ) would not bump up against anything in the range where their equipment operates. Good to know but it really didn't answer the question for either of us.
  7. Hi Jim, A couple of weeks ago I flew an Alexa EV with CP lens and AB brick (hytron 140-not the dionic) It was a good sized load for the Zephyr but it worked out pretty well. On the phone the client said they had the power cables as well as a large, portable battery option that a grip would carry for me on the shots (indy film thing). I would be teathered. No big deal - shots were not that complicated. When I got their they had used up that battery supply earlier in the day and we had to add the brick. We stripped everything off the camera. It was body and lens only. FF unit and a brick rounded it out. We chewed thru power pretty quick but had enough to get all of the shots we needed. Having the cable and extra plate for 24 v is ideal but if you can't get it in time you will be fine putting a brick on the back.
  8. Thats the main issue. On the Gimbal clamp, I can clamp it closed, but it is not tight enought to hold position--i.e. it slides. If I tighten the bolt, it very quickly becomes to difficult to close the clamp. Time to call Tiffen. Thanks guys.
  9. Use the rental opportunity you are tired of running to pick it up for every job you need it for. At that point you will have revenue to justify the purchase and repeated success at flying it. And both play off each other. My location has me "geographically challenged" where shipping takes a big bite into renting gear into the market. But, I do it because it's worth having the chance to examine the gear and make decisions based on first hand knowledge. Having that shop down the street for easy rentals will help you grow your business by not needing to lay out so much capitol expense while getting your business off the ground. There are many time I've said, I wish I had a Fletcher next door." Take advantage of it.
  10. I have had my Zephyr for 8 months now. Doing well, learning lots and having some fun and success. Recently got to fly an Alexa EV on a short and the week after it was an Alexa XT with Cooke 5/i. To date I have one one concern... My concern with the sled are the clamps. They are awefully stiff and hard to open and close. I am familiar with the "quick release" design from riding bikes for 20 years but these are definately not Shimano parts. The lower post clamp is managable but the gimble clamp is a bugger. When having the weight of the Alexa XT and a Cooke lens (23.7 lbs verified by a shipping scale) I opted to get it closed but then use an allen wrench to make it secure. --meaning when I could close the clamp it was not secure and the gimble could slide. After shortening the screw length and therefore the throw of the lever, I could not hand tighten it. I honestly thought the plastic parts would snap. After that shoot I took the sled to my shop and tried ot diagnose the issue. When applying force on the clamp lever it appears almost as if the screw inside was starting to bend or flex under the stress. I tried to find a replacement bolt in hopes of finding a sturdier one but the hardwre shop near by didn't have an exact match. I did toss a washer in help close the gap but this is a bandaid as best. Any suggestions what is going on here? Could I have a clamp assembly that needs attention or am I expecting too much out of the hardware for a secure fit on the post?
  11. Hey everyone. I've been following along for a long time and am in the game now with a HD Zephry. The Owners Handbook is in route and I am looking into the operator workshops so I don't start with too many bad habits. And of course, I am booked on jobs that interfer with all of the remaining workshops. Does anyone know when the 2013 dates are announced?
