  1. Hi all, I have the shorter gimbal handle and am looking to see if anybody is selling the longer version? Many thanks.
  2. Hi there Herman. There was a very brief discussion regarding the HD4000 thing earlier. Have a read through and see if that answers any of those questions for you. http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=19540&hl= Hope it helps.
  3. I messaged and emailed but it had unfortunately been sold by the time I had a reply. I'll email Cramped Attic now to check on a price estimate, thanks for the heads up.
  4. I can never get bored of watching quality work like this! Thanks for sharing James.
  5. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm still pretty sure to be going with 4 blue and 2 black at the moment as I'm also upgrading sled, vest and my van. Just good to know I'm not making a catastrophic mistake for general operating weights and can always add it on later. Appreciated. :)
  6. Hey guys and girls, Would love to see if there are any modular sleds looking for a new home at the moment. I'm not against something along the lines of an SD PRO 1 without AB mount depending on price. Would also consider an HD Artemis and counterparts as well. Budget is presently around $12k. Hit me up if you have anything. Thanks and hopefully hear from someone soon :)
  7. Hey Tom, thanks for the response. I agree that all springs is definitely the best choice and am still trying to work toward that option. I'm stretching as it is to get this in my budget. Hmmm, might look around the house to see what else I have to sell..
  8. Hi all, So I'm looking at upgrading to the PRO Titan arm as an undeserved present to myself. Just curious as to which spring combinations will see 90% of the day-to-day work. Obviously it depends on whether you're shooting feature or live. I'll personally be looking at narrative 98% of the time so assume the typical Alexa, RED, Sony chorus. Weight charts help of course but I'd love to hear some real world experiences. I know the easy answer is to just buy them all, but funds have to run out at some point and unfortunately that's pretty much my limit <_< If you could choose only 6 canisters, which would you go with for the best range? I don't see myself flying a 3D rig any time soon so I'm leaning toward 4 blue and 2 black. Giving me 13-63lbs without gaps, which matches the Silver Spring I was originally looking at. I can always sell body parts and get the other 2 black canisters if I somehow land a job that requires such a load. So in summary, for anyone that had to ask the same question, what did you choose and are you happy with the results? Thank you for taking the time to respond, Michael.
  9. A pic of the four plates and assorted cables on top of the flight case. So far I've only shot with DSLR, PMW-200 or RED cameras, so the included cables are a guess to me.
  10. Hi all, I'm looking to take my beginner skills to the next level and upgrade my rig. Up for sale is: *Steadicam 3A sled 12/24v and HD-SDI with 2 AB battery plates and metal flight case. *Glidecam Gold arm with titanium socket block and springs. *Glidecam Gold vest. *Docking plate. *Also includes a very basic Panasonic monitor (not the one pictured) and an assortment of plates and cables (pictures to follow very shortly). Able to fly weights up to approximately 56 pounds/25 kilos total. I found it an excellent starting point for a beginner and am now looking to take the next step. Just have one pic that was snapped before beginning a take. I will upload some more pics as soon as I get a chance. Please ask if you have any questions. Located in Brisbane, Australia but can be shipped of course at buyers expense. Looking for around US$7000. Thanks for reading, Michael.
  11. Do you have a certain price range that you're looking to play around Alex? That can affect the answer quite dramatically. Also the usage is just as important, or more so. If it's DSLR's all day or taking up the broadcast offer as mentioned. Do you know what camera they are shooting with?
  12. Thanks for the quick replies. I've previously emailed Kipp and am waiting on a response. I hadn't seen McMaster-Carr yet so that's another lead.
  13. Hi all, quick question about sourcing a part. I'm looking to swap out the thumb screw for an adjustable Kipp handle on my 3A top stage. I'm sure many of you may have done similar upgrades over the years. Apparently 6 different fastener stores in my area aren't able to source the part. I waited for over two weeks to have one of them ordered, that turned out to be a metric piece that understandably wouldn't work. I've been trolling through many US sites trying to find a place that has this item and will ship to Australia. Is there anywhere that people are aware of that might narrow my search a little? Ideally I'd love to get this sorted out before my next project on the 4th of May, hence starting 2.5 weeks ago. Still no luck. I believe the thread is 10-32 and approximately 1" in length (happy to be corrected if anyone has a more accurate measurement). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Michael.
  14. Haha this was one of the best short films I've watched in ages. Had me laughing hard Kyle. Great work!
  15. Monitor arrived yesterday and looks great. Many thanks to Jay Kim and Jason for facilitating the purchase.
  16. Plus I'm pretty sure he's rocking his Canon 1D C as 4k to help with stabilizing in post. Always better to start with an image as stable as possible of course, but as Luke mentioned, Devin has been flying his Glidecam for some years now and probably has a good understanding of it.
  17. Loved this. I showed everyone in my house. Some great work.
  18. Gentlemen, great information and thank you for the timely responses. I guess there's no particular order set in stone but your advice is very welcome and the years of experience certainly helps us newer guys. Looks like I'm saving for a gimbal and go from there. Love this forum!
  19. Hi all, I apologize in advance if this is a regular topic, I did search but found no specific topics. My question is simple but I've found the answer not so easy. I know that the easy answer is 'everything', unfortunately not as realistic as I would wish. Basically, when not rolling in piles of cash and having to choose a single (major) part to upgrade on ones rig, where should you start? I currently have a Steadicam 3a sled supported by a Glidecam Gold arm and vest. Vest, arm or sled? Each part has an incredible influence on operating (skills aside) and I'm stuck scratching my balding head for where to start. The better the vest will give more intimate control and more comfortable allowing you to operate longer. The arm will help reduce simple things like bounce (once again not including operator skill) and improve a multitude of operating areas. The sled. More power options, upgraded gimbal, easier balancing, list goes on. So there are real world benefits to any on the components. I'd just love to hear opinions on which part you would/have chosen and why. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. -Michael.
  20. What a heinous act! I think I would personally find it hard not to hit the release and chase him down. Out of curiosity, has anyone ever had an altercation following such an incident? In no way am I saying lets be macho men and beat everyone up, that's a surefire way to never get hired again. I am more than professional, but is there a line and who would wear would the blame?
  21. Thanks for the advice Mike, definitely good to keep in mind. Now it's a case of trying to find one..
  22. Hey guys, late notice I know but I'm hoping to see if anyone has a monitor that is somewhat viewable in sunlight. Now I'm not expecting a $5,000 Transvideo but I'd like to keep the budget somewhere close to the $1000 mark (hence a realistic semi daylight viewable). I've seen the 7" Marshall V-LCD70MD-3G 800 nit advertised for around $1100 here in Australia, just nobody seems to have it in stock. Would prefer a seller in Aus as I have a shoot on 5/6 of October and as always, time is a factor. So on the off chance that someone is looking to offload such a device, please hit me up quickly. Thanks for reading. Michael.
  23. Did you end up having any success with this Michael? I'm currently looking into doing the same thing and I second the appeal if anyone has a proven modification to show. At the moment I'm thinking of just running some Q/R 19mm rods and mounting the AB plates at the end of those. Happy to be told there's a better way.
  24. I have previously owned a cheap $2500 'rig' many years ago and it was honestly quite terrible. I am getting back into the filming side of things after about 10 years away and came across said topic on REDuser. Initially keen on the most expensive model on offer but the timings weren't exactly there. Plus, I generally prefer to buy something that will have less problems and complications surrounding its use. So I removed my interest from the group buy and as of tomorrow, should have the second of three pieces to make my first real (albeit still entry-level) rig. It should hopefully consist of a Glidecam Gold vest and arm (leaving me a world of upgrading after finding my feet) with a Steadicam IIIa sled, all for about $8k. The price is a lot more than I initially thought of spending, though only remembered just how much I enjoyed 'operating' my very first crappy stabilizer. So on the bright side, the group purchase has helped me to take the steps needed to get a better kick-start into the real world of flying and I am very thankful for that opportunity. Something you can never buy is experience or skill, so a percentage of users will just give up and some will upgrade to real equipment. Guess it will even itself out over time? Anyway, good to be aboard and hope to be learning for many years to come :) The work this industry provides astounds me everytime I watch a movie, it's always the Steadicam shots I look for most. Thanks for the great images and the countless hours of information to be absorbed through this forum. See you out there.
