  1. Hey Jake thanks for your reply. Regarding the emissions - in London, UK from 2020 there is a lot of talk of extra charges for diesel vehicles, are you experience anything like that in Aus? Paris will be doing the same. This will potentially be a problem for me as all my work is in London. VW Transporters are great, but they are all diesel. Also (Rupert) I should of mentioned in my original post, it will not just be for work, but also day running, and would love to use it for short holidays/camping so caddy might be too small, ideally it would transport upto 4 passengers. 2. hehe, I would prefer an ice cream truck, the melody would be more welcome on set over the sirens... Plus if the steadicam business doesn't work out, I would be on my way to being an ice cream salesman - living the dream.
  3. Hey, I have been thinking about buying a van and just wondering if anyone can offer advice. My current vehicle is a small hatchback and I struggle to load what little kit I have in to it, plus it is on its last legs anyway. I was thinking about a VW Transporter, but the whole diesel emissions thing put me off, and 2020 onward it may cause me issues driving in London with extra costs, though it is all up in the air and who knows what will happen by then if anything. What have other people gone for? Any tips, considerations, advice would be greatly appreciated. Andrew
  4. I have seen that before, I think its mon out settings/or perhaps in project settings on alexa (to do with dual output setting when recording raw) Also if I remember correctly we needed two BNCS from rec 1/2 going into the odyssey to record raw, and you would need two cards in the odyssey to go into high speed.
  5. Hey John, I am selling a second copy I have of the Steadicam Operators Handbook, in new condition, I highly recommend it and it will answer many of your questions, also it will help clear my pile of various... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Steadicam%C2%AE-Operators-Handbook-Jerry-Holway/dp/024082380X/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=ACWANWB7BRFBG Andrew
  6. I made a note of this a while back but not 100% certain its correct. 20 - 45lbs (9.1 - 20.5kg) That is before detuning. Maybe someone else can confirm?
  7. only on the stairs segment/mirror stuff i mean (motion control) The rest is for sure a mix of kit.
  8. this all looked like motion control rigs to me, plus would make it easier for the removal of reflections. Spike Jonze i think likes painting things out:)
  9. Hey Stan, best to contact Robin at Tiffen Pinewood (depending on where you are located) I am sure he can advise on where to source the pin.
  10. Hey Stan, I had a random screw in my ultra kit which I have never had a use for, when I posted a photo of it Robin at Tiffen informed me it was for low mode. But my low mode bracket has an entirely different screw so I still do not know what this other screw is for (maybe your kind of bracket??)... Check out the original thread and photo http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=22695&do=findComment&comment=111632 Andrew
  11. Thanks guys, I was hoping someone who has had hands on experience with this particular monitor might chime in and tell me what i'm doing wrong and how to sort the issue, as there must be a way to turn it on or off or some control over it??? Perhaps installing a switch is the answer. Thanks Andrew
  12. Hey, Can anyone help with this issue? I have the older ultrabrite HD component monitor. From time to time the fan randomly kicks in and can be quite loud. There are no options in the menus to disable the fan/no mention of temperature or anything that might be related... On set the other day it finally decided to come on during the take to which sound quickly kicked off about. All I could do was turn it off and on again and hope it did not repeat itself which is not ideal but a quick fix. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks Andrew
  13. I am currently loaning a set of 4 vlock OnAir brand batteries, but in January 2016 I am returning these and so I need to get my own kit. I am on the look out for a set of 4 but would be also interested in 6 + charger and ideally with a decent case, so anyone selling a used kit please get in touch with the details. Thanks Andrew
  14. Thanks Joe, its not just the knob, its the whole front section of the stage on the side/side end that moves. I did a little video clip but it will not let me upload it here.
  15. Thanks Victor, not sure how similar they are, the ultra cine has a motorized stage also - I spoke to Robin at Tiffen and he believes some shims need to be added to take away the movement. I will give all the visible screws a look over though and make sure all is tight before I send off to a technician. Would be great to see an assembly video for this stuff like the GPI tutorial videos you guys mentioned. Andrew
  16. Hey Joe, This is going a while back now, but what happened with the play in your ultra top stage? I have an ultra cine and noticed there is play also in the side to side section of the stage. Currently waiting to hear back from Robin of a good time to take it in, but like yourself I am quite keen to take the top off and have a look inside:) Andrew
  17. Hey, I have some play in the docking bracket, and as far as I can tell I need to remove the bit that the cable for the securing pin attaches to, and then insert an allen key to tighten, closing the gap on the back end. My question is, how do I remove the pin (if this is the correct course of action) and not cause damage to it or the cable? See photo to clarify the section in question, also for a bonus round - what is this screw for in the next picture because I have no idea and it was in the box with an ultra cine sled but seems to have no purpose. Thanks - sorry if this is posted in wrong section. Andrew
