  1. I just can speak for Rio de Janeiro and talked to colleagues who did ENG-Productions, traveling all over the country but none had a bad incident. Just my 2 cents. P.S. Just a very personal anecdote - A homeless person even wanted to give me back 15 of the 20 Rias I gave him because he meant that the food he wanted to buy is not that expensive. I love Brazil. Nice people and very relaxed. Didn't expect it that way.
  2. Update: The short sled, the regular sled, 1 Monitor Arm with extensions and the dovetail plates have been sold. The Superpost is pending and has a waiting list. The gimbal sale fell through, so both gimbals incl. handgrips + the other equipment parts are available again.
  3. Hi Michael, Last year the brazilian Customs changed the regulations and you had to preregister your equipment means you contact the Customs before you are leaving. They send you some documents to file your equipment and then you return the papers. So when you're arriving the brazilian Custom is already prepared. If you fail to do so, you have to do it at the arrival desk and that can take 2-3 hours just waiting. Since those procedures are subject to change easily, you should definitely contact the Customs. 14. A big thank you to Greg / XCS. He could have sold me the expensive version for my problem, means 2 new threads for my XCS post but he offered me the option with 2 snap rings and a ring plier for a few cents. Now everything is rock solid and I'm looking forward to testing it out.
  15. Thanks again to everyone. Needless to say that I love this forum with all the great colleagues. Your advices had been very helpful. I contacted Greg too and he recommended similar solutions and presented me options between no-, low- and high-budget. To keep you updated, I rotated the J-box 180 degrees, then I took a special plumber sealing ring which even gets a better fit with a little water and put that ring on the side of the j-box where the mating pins are. Presently everything seems to be rock solid and the fixing ring doesn't touch the post anymore. I'll try out the sled next week and hope it stays vibrationless. Nevertheless I ordered a new, thicker retaining ring.
  16. Hi Andy, Greetings from Europe. It's right, I definitly would recommend the A.T.A. Carnet. You have to file the main items (don't list every single piece because that causes too much work for customs :-) ). with serial number, price and origin country. As to the price, don't use the real price. If the sum is over a certain amount, you need an extra guarantee. Maybe everything not more than 10000,-USD. Then you have to present everything at your home customs before departing so that they can check if everything is correct. I would recommend to do it several days before departure and not at the airport. But at the airport you have to go to customs again to receive a final 'leaving' stamp. Get the baggage tags for the equipment first at check in counter but DON'T have the equipment checked in yet. Take it with the tags to US customs and usually you leave it there and they put it on the plane for you. If they are not so experienced, they hand it over back to you and then you just bring it back to the airline check in counter. In Italy you go through red and present the carnet to customs. On your way back do it the same style as you did in the US, means get the baggage tags first and then go to customs with the equipment. The chamber of commerce should have the carnet documents and they should assist you with filling it out because you have to pay attention to some points. If you need more info, just let me know. I looove carnets. :-(
  17. Hey Richard, Good idea with the tape and the mating pin holes. Thanks a lot.
  18. Hi Alec, Thanks for the retaining ring advice. The explanation made full sense! Unfortunately the post mounts are glued so pretty hard to take out but I should go for the retaining ring, Raising the j-box a little because I already thought that the ring hits the 2" post just slightly.. Rotating the j-box 180 degrees, unexplanable for me, brought a big improvement but I believe I still feel a little play. Maybe by now I'm just too sensitive abiout it. I'll have to try it with full setup and let you know the outcome.
  19. Hi Blake, I received a profund answer from Pro concerning the bayonet system. Just want to clarify that contrary to popular belief Pro has never changed the tolerances on their (patented) bayonet mounting system. Pro did change the threaded ring about 8-9 years ago and added three more threads so that operators could dock on the ring itself instead of a docking clamp. This change had nothing to do with the bayonet connector. As I said, I followed your advice to rotatate the j-box 180 degrees and it seems to work. I'll keep you updated when I've checked it with a complete setup.
  20. Hi Iain, Thanks for the input. I checked the post thread first and it's fix. I actually turned the j-box and it seems to work now. I'll post the result if I have checked it with the complete setup next week.
