  1. I don't get why they designed the top stage in this way, you can not increase pan inertia with the extra weights (only at the lower spar), although this was one of the best features on the Pilot. Still, the rig looks very impressive, if I didn't own a Pilot, I would probably buy an Aero. The built-in quick release system, the gimbal grip, the 1000 nits monitor and the better vest (even on the Solo, full metal) are huge improvements over the Pilot. The sled looks way more robust, and the system is priced very competitvely.
  2. I have just installed this gimbal grip on my Pilot, I definitely recommend it, it gives great control over the rig!
  3. My vest is a lot more simple than the majority of the users here (Pilot), but I just took the padded parts and the velcro parts off, then 1) put them in the tub filled with cold water, pressed them by hand for a few minutes, let the water down. 2) used the most delicate detergent I found at home (made for breathable products, brand: Storm), used about 2 cups in the water, pressed the pads all over for about 10 minutes (wanted to do a thorough job as my gear was a rental kit), let them in water for about an hour more, let the water down. (the sewn 'Steadicam' logo was quite dirty, I have put a lot of delicate concentrated cleaner spray (also from an outdoor shop) on it and gently rubbed in with my fingers, the logo is beautiful white now) 3) rinsed them thoroughly, dried the parts outdoors by wind&sun for 36 hours. Worked like a charm.
  4. I bought one a week ago, if a forum moderator sees this he can delete this thread, thanks:)
  5. Hi there all, I am looking for a Steadicam Pilot for sale (complete sled&arm&vest kit). My budget is up to 800 USD incl. customs charges (if it comes out of the EU). I know this is way less than most of you would sell your Pilot for, but I just have to give it a try, because unfortunately that is the highest amount my little one-man company (I am not in filmmaking, I organize sightseeing tours and for these I make documentaries about WW2) can offer, and a couple of times I have seen Pilots for sale for about 8-900 USD, that were claimed to be in perfect condition.
