  1. Hey Kip, Do your research, you lazy bastard. Respectfully, Kip
  2. Yes, I've searched a lot in the forum in the hopes of redundancy avoidance. That said- I will be flying the Red Epic with Zeiss Super Speed primes on my not LE Flyer (15lb.max. rears it's ugly head, again. But weight isn't the concern, here.) I've been away from this for a while and need to galumph up that learning curve, again. Any assistance is most appreciated regarding the following: I am hoping to see a picture of the needed hardware or a dope-proof reference to what I'll need to make mounting the Wireless Follow Focus gear on the rig/to my plate (mating MOTOR ROD SET to my plate or some improv derivation thereof.). Thanks, as always for the great knowledge shared on this site. Also, I'll be your best friend for a mutually agreed upon duration of time for the sage advise that is -hopefully- forthcoming. Cheers!
  3. Peter Abraham is the BEST Steadcam teacher in THE-WHOLE-WIDE-WORLD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi Peter, I just got a call from a professional associate, like an hour ago. He was asking about the Steadicam as he's thinking of making a purchase. I went on about the value of the workshop like so many other have and do; and rightly so. He was just sent the info about the upcoming classes in NYC. I hope he attends. Be well! And, thanks for your sage knowledge!!!!! Kip
  4. Erwin, You are a shining beacon of inspiration to me and, I'm quite sure, a lot of others.
  5. Speaking from a strictly tortious perspective, I would submit this: Gettus bentus..... And, then proceed to the next market.
  6. Hi Rob, And did this approach actually yield positive results? I may be faced with a similar situation (Indy, under funded, Op takes it in the shorts etc). As it's coming up on 90 days in arrears (run with the pun, as it were). Let's teleport all non paying sleazeoids to their very own special planet. It's called "The Sun".
  7. The Reid catalog is always worth exploring for varied doo-dads and tiny helixical thingys and what-nots. www.reidsupply.com
  8. Vladimir Peeters. That's the mans name. Vladimir. I see it in every post, here. Are you guys seeing (or not) seeing something that I am or I'm not? I'm just curious because I know how serious this forum is regarding real names. And that's fine. I've seen a lot of clipped, curt and course responses to the name issue. So, again, please enlighten me. Thanks! Also, great and informative forum!!! Kip Ross Kip Ross
  9. Count me in!!! But only if I get to play the Air Dulcimer... \ / I Rock on................................
  10. I can only assume that the show Mr. Brummond was hosed by is a union shoot. If this is true, where is the union in all its power and glory with regard to negotiating insurance related issues and eliminating the nebulous gray areas that are creating such an outcome. Big biz and the insurance companies make their own rules; just ask, for instance, the millions of homeowners that got the middle finger from the insurance companies after Katrina. We pay dearly for worker's comp. The trump is, once you use it, your screwed. Outrageous! And, don't get me going on illegal Martians, let alone sandals on men!!!
  11. I've read a few entries about weight plates. I'm flying a Flyer (redundant?). I'm not sure how to configure the holes in the plate. Should I replicate the hole configuration in the plate that came with my rig or is there another option requiring less milling (read-less holes). Any advise is appreciated. Kip "holy plate techtonics" Ross
  12. You should! That would be cool (warm?)! I know I'd love to see those shots and I'm sure others among us would ,too!
  13. Hi Bill, I don't know you nor do I play you on TV. But I wish you all the best! God Speed!!!
  14. How so? back a long long time ago when I was still doing industrials and one man banding it it never took me 30 mins to go from tripod to the rig. 10 maybe 15 mins but never 30. Speaking of one man banding (let alone one man bonding):It never even took me 10 to 15 minutes. Maybe 5 to 7 minutes. It's all in the spinach........
  15. I totally disagree. I walk normally and have absolutely ZERO bobing issues. It's all in the setup and operators skill. What is a "bobing?
  16. Brandon, Thanks to you , as well. Fly safe and often!!!! Kip
  17. Job and Rob, Thanks for the valuable input; very helpful. You guys now have major "best friend" currency! Fly safe and often!!!! Kip
  18. I purchased a Flyer last November. Practice etc. What would you (the working pro) suggest be the most practical item to buy next to augment my package. I'm speaking in terms of PRACTICAL , in the context of the Producer/Director's needs. Wireless monitor, low mode cage??? Any and all advise is most appreciated. And to sweeten the pot: I'll be your best friend for a mutually agreed upon duration of time. Can't beat that!!!
  19. With regard to Spam: If it's real spam as in Spiced ham in a can; I'll eat your Spam, I love it! With regard to the electronic type: I'm working on a special email that can be sent to the spammers. It's a thermonuclear email bomb that when the spammer opens up he/she /it is vaporized. End of problem. P.S. I'm always looking for dabblers in particle physics, phylogenetics, orthogenetics, chutes and ladders and omelet recipe focus groups.
  20. Plllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease, MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting a MONDO headache from this interminably long and caustic thread. Can it not be taken "outside"? This still remains a great forum for a newbie, but the negativity is polluting the spirit of this forum's intended raison d'etre. Please, pass the aspirin....
  21. Consider the alternative: Not working......... As in: Not working............at all. It's temporary. Temporary working is a whole lot better than temporary NOT working..... Onward and upward, be it DJ, Missionary, linear or 69......................... Cheers!
  22. Still i think that this kind of DIY is important for the future career, i encourage it! What motor is used in this set up? Does the transmitter somehow activate the built in servo on the lense? As a newbie, this DIY focus control is of particular interest, given the relatively high cash outlay the newbie would need to justify at the early stage of his Steadicam career.
  23. The chest and waist belts on my Flyer vest are something I?d like to replace. I lengthened the chest belts because they were to short for my GIANT chest. However, they are thin and tend to twist around (think licorice stick), so a more rigid belt/webbing stock would ideal. And, the waist belt is starting to show fatigue, in that it?s getting curly on the end corners from repeated on/off/on/off etc. Sooooooo, would the vest ratchet buckles (Tiffen item # msc-079901) foot the bill as far as suitable replacements for the current belts? I see nothing on the Barbizon site regarding these doodads. Thanks for any input. I will contact Tiffen and Barbizon on Tuesday, as well. Kip Ross
  24. Again, this relates to the Flyer: I'm looking at the Low Mode kit, Low Mode Camera Handle Clamp and the Low Mode F bracket in the Steadicam Accessories Pamphlet. Does anyone have a couple photos they could post so I might see this stuff being used. I'm trying to envision how this hardware works but, I guess it's to abstract for my feeble mind to visualize. Whirled peas? not a problem. The aforementioned, problem... Thanks! Kip "green pea mountain boy"Ross
