  1. Thanks Guys I'll make the adjustment at the vest and arm connection, by the way where can I purchase the socket block
  2. Hi All, I must first say that I have a custom manufactered rig. Last night as I reveiwed my footage I noticed that my footage was swaying from side to side. As I shot it I didn't see it. Is this a technique issue or am I missing something on my rig. My rig is very simular to the Glidcam V-16
  3. Well, we decided to go hand held. All went well, Tim says hi, just kidding!!
  4. Hi All, I was at the Super Bowl aswell, that 3D camera was pretty amazing. As I can remember it took three people to work the camera I worked next to. Two focus pullers and a camera op who pointed the camera. I can't even tell you how many people stopped by to see the thing. It is indeed an amazine thing to see.
  5. Thanks All for your input; I would not ever jeopardize the integrity of a show for my benefit. I'm a great hand held camera op and don?t want to loose that reputation either, I'll let you all know how it turns out. Anyone have a request from Tim? Other than his good-looking wife!
  6. Lets talk unions. I'm currently a non-union freelancer in Houston TX. Most of my gigs lately have been sports events, pro and college. About a year ago one of the major TV production companies went "union" which started a small ripple of companies to only hire union folks. There have been many opportunities for work as a non-union member however, to break into the real money gigs you have to be in the union. In the past few year?s there?s been more small time gigs (non-union) than full rate gigs (union) so I've never felt the need to join a union (FYI this whole union thing is new to the Houston TX area). This year I've brought on a steadicam to my production company and will really push my business harder then ever. My concerns are these; If I join will I still be able to work non-union gigs, will I still be able to operate my video production biz, and of course the gamble is, will being in a union help my biz or not? Sorry to make this so long but there?s so many things that will need to change so its something I really need advise on.
  7. It a "Tim McGraw" concert at Minute Maid Park, so I don?t have to worry much about the mosh pit, and I don?t think there going to let anyone on the field. I'd love to use the steadicam which would look great on my resume however, I'm all about great shots.
  8. Hi All, Here's my story; I've been booked for a major concert at the end of this month as a handheld camera op. I've talked the director into letting me shoot with my steadicam, he agreed as long as we don?t mess with the integrity of the show. Here is my dilemma, we're not sure if I'll be able to get on stage or shoot from down front (awaiting artist production manager). I've shot many concerts as a handheld guy and know the great shots I can get being handheld however, I'm not sure I can get the close ups with a steadicam. If I'm not allowed to shoot on stage and get stuck shooting from down front then I think I'll use the steadicam, if I can shoot on stage then I'll go with the handheld. Comments please.
  9. Hi All, I'm in need of some help, I've uploaded a photo into my profile and it shows up in "my controls" but not when I post a message. Please help!!
  10. Great stuff, where can I get info on a J-7 unit?
  11. Thanks for the great input, keep um coming! Hey can someone help me with "my controls" I posted my photo but it doesn't show up in my posted messages. I see it when I check my profile so I know its in the system.
  12. Ok All I'm new to this whole steadicam thing, I've been in the video biz about 12 years, have shot many concerts (camera op on stage mostly). I now have a custom manufactured rig I built, its much like a ProVid unit. My question is how do you focus in a concert situation, do you set your focus to infinity and go with it or are you able to focus yourself on the run  ? Thanks
