  1. I saw this online and thought of you guys...:) A one shot music video which im sure is spreading like wildfire around the net. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x99ein_ma..._music?from=rss Apologies if its been posted here already.
  2. Mikesh - I cant seem to find that listing - can you post photos here? or double check the listing number?
  3. Great Advice Erwin thank you. And i really am almost definitely retired (sort of):) S
  4. Im coming out of my (sort of) retirement for a few days next week but as ive sold my rig I'll be working with a rental, specifically a Pro 2 with a Pro Arm. Having only used a Pro arm (and Pro sled) a handful of times is there anything i need to be aware of when using it? - Im thinking specifically of needing to switch cannisters in the arm (im flying a Milenium XL and a 435 with E-Series anamorphics) or switching the mating pin to go from my back mounted vest to a garfield mount. Is it a relatively self explanatory process that i can work out on the prep day or do i need to look for a PDF to guide me through the process. Also is there much of an operational difference between the Dbox 3 (what im used to ) and the dbox 2 (what i have to use)? Or mounting gyros? I'm so used to MK-V kit that im just trying to cover my arse a bit here...:) Thanks, S
  5. Erwin, Ive had to deal with that same BS attitude from PV Dublin for my entire career as a steadicam op. They have, on occasion said a very similar thing to me in person. Ive always refused to fly PV conversion kits and i always refused to fly the 435 unless it had a 100% top and steadi mags. I was told on more then one occasion that i was being difficult and that all the other operators in the Uk fly this set up (more BS!). Most of the time the Producers/PM's believed me but i did loose several gig's because some believed in "the power of Panavision" (as someone once put it). Stand your ground - you did the right thing. S
  6. I cant speak for others but it's helped me in the past.
  7. Luke, Roger is a legend amongst UK operators. He's been doing it for quite a while and is very very good at it too. I met him briefly at a BSC dinner last year and he seemed like a lovely guy to boot. If you can contact him he'd be a great guy to learn from. S
  8. Many thanks for all the kind words both on and off forum guys. I will of course keep in touch here - its become such a part of my daily routine to check in here that i cant imagine not doing so! S
  9. So I've finally said goodbye to my Steadicam kit. A few days ago i sold my entire package to another operator, and from this point on I plan to concentrate solely on working as a DP. I am sure that over the next few months i will still pick up a steadicam rig for the occasional day or two to help pay the bills during my transition to full time DP but i am also sure that those days will become fewer and fewer as time goes by. I have mixed feelings about leaving my steadicam days behind but it was something that needed to happen to advance my DP career, and the timing just felt right. I bought my first Steadicam 7 years ago (an old 3A) and it has been a fantastic journey ever since; I've learned from some amazing DP's and worked on some great sets, and now Im really looking forward to collaborating with other steadicam operators on projects that i am lighting. So i just wanted to say thank you to all the forum members who have helped me over the years, many of whom may not even read this forum anymore. I will still visit the forum to keep abreast of things, and I'll always consider myself a steadicam operator at heart but for now its goodbye. Sort of:)
  10. Thanks Jeff - i literally just got an email from Carl at the SOA saying the same. I thought i had signed in in the last year but i guess not! S
  11. Has anybody else's listing on the SOA website disappeared?:) I went to update my profile today and found my profile has been removed! S

  13. There's a new version of the shining coming to dvd and hddvd/blu-ray at the end of the year that will feature a commentary by GB! Now if only he would finish that book of his:) S
  14. Thanks Erwin - turns out there was a problem with it and i needed to do a factory reset. another round of praise for Greg's superb customer service - he was on the phone in a jiffey and i had my PDL back online 1 minute or so later. S
  15. im hoping this is in the right section... When i switched on my sled today after lunch my bubble had disappeared. The assistants had been moving my rig around so its possible they knocked it and switched it off by mistake but...now i cant switch it back on again. Ill be really honest here and say that ive only switched off the bubble once in the last couple of years and now i cant figure out how to switch it on again - my memory obviously isn't what it used to be. Im out of the country and my manual is at home and no button or combination of buttons seem to do it - can anyone help before i have to embarrass myself further and email Greg? On the off chance that there is a problem with it does anyone know if there is a built in reset that i could try? Ive never had any problems with it before...:( Thanks for any help,
  16. So one of my Li-ion batteries died on me the other day. Its a Pag L75, approx 3 years old and when i put it on my sled it doesnt give me anything; when i put it on my charger the charger doesnt even recognise theres a battery on it - granted it could be a contacts problem but they're clean and in good shape so im assuming its just dead. Any idea if i can recover this battery or have it recelled? - If possible to recell is it worth it or should i just plum for a new battery? S
  17. Yeah ive been asked to work on a sports gig with one of these with triax and im worried it may be a little too light for my set up (nexus/3a arm). Same weight as a Digibeta 790 maybe? or lighter still:(?
  18. Can anyone tell me what this camera is like weight wise? comparable to a Sony 750 or 900 or smaller alltogether?
  19. Chas, What camera did you get??? looks pretty good. And what file size/compression did you use? Thats a nice size image and it downloaded really quickly for me. id love to do something simialr with my site.
  20. Chris, Most of us use pieces of kit from different manufacturers on our rigs. There is no "best" piece of kit - there is only the kit that works best for you and suits how you like to work. There are plenty of threads on this forum already discussing each manufacturers pros and cons. Do some homework and im sure you'll find enough information for your report.
