  2. can i float a panaflex gold on a master arm? (mk-v evolution sled) will it hurt?
  3. If u do get round to fishing those details joe...... anychance i could get a copy too? i am just in the process of making up my own little load of cables.... sourced my lemos, fischers, 4pinXLRs etcetc. I would love to get some info with what pins carry what power into the cameras. every time ive had a camera and borrowed leads ive tried to measure with the old meter and make my own diagrams..... but i dont trust it. I would definately get u a pint...s. wicked
  4. i had a lot of success and work using the "hollywoodlite" gt rig and a pd150. got really into pulling my own focus with that stealth zoom varizoom thing... or u can use the snap auto focus on the new one. i raised half the money for my big rig using that.
  5. ive done the big stages at glasto as well as big chill a coupla times and a few others. i find sometimes, especially when there s a poor act on the steadicam "steals the show" from the act itself.. a coupla of times ive had mates of mine shout at me from the audience because they have nt seen me in years and their drunk. its incredible how the voice of one person timed right can carry so far over a crowd of 10000... hand helds good.

i used howards new prototype arm on a load of jobs because i was short. it had 2 lots of springs that were easily interchangeable, so i was able to put any camera weight i wanted on there, i think he may have said up to an imax. i liked it, it performed well when running really hard... but it was still a prototype and i know he s improved it lots.
  7. For owner/operators what insurance policy is recomended in the UK? and why? Are there any policies i can buy in europe for the whole of europe that compete? i dont like/fear the insurance business and am finding it a difficult thing to research. i worry that theres something i need in my policy that i don t have or im being fleeced for something that s blatantly not my responsibility. thanx
  8. wicked... got told about that film (with no title etc) at a party and been looking for it since............... thanx
  9. well done... this forum is bloody excellent... i would never have known that until i would have tried my cage on someone elses xl1. The moment i put an xl1 in my little cage i ll automatically owe u a pint...
  10. made a cage a while ago my cage consists of two opposing identical plates made of aluminium, identical screw fittings on both so u can lowmode it. to make up the weight i used steel (15mm diamter) for the struts. whole thing comes in at about 7kgs. more weight? beef up those struts. i got my inspiration from those low mode cages . but obviously u need to make the weight up. made the struts 280mm long.. big enough to accomodate an xl1 or a pd150 on a little tripod head so u can change its tilt. I recently saw howards one, and it looks wicked.. all sorts of dovetail attachments and stuff i would nt know what to do with. but im sure you d feel very smart if u used them my first dvcam setup consisted of a sheet plate steal with 2, 3kg diving weights araldited (epoxy resined) on... these cameras should weigh between 2 and 4 kg. u can always screw diving weights into the (lowmode side) top of the cage if u wanna heavy it up... when it comes to screw attachments. i put one threaded screw port, then a 14mm hole going down with 3.5 mm clearance at the bottom so the screw head can jut out and attach to camera/tripod head. keeping em central and as close to each other as possible
