  1. Selling my Tiffen Ultra Steadicam with lots of bits and pieces. This rig has served me very well since 2001 and according to Dan Ikeda at Tiffen, it is probably the most updated of the generation 1 Ultras. The battery system has been upgraded to the idx v-mount style and everything works well. Full disclosure, this rig was dropped while in low mode last summer and some damage was sustained. The camera and lens took the majority of the impact but the nose of the top stage was bent slightly downwards. the base of the rig hit the ends of the carbon rods and they seem fine. As it was part of an insurance claim, I had the rig sent to Tiffen for a full disassembly and inspection. They looked over everything, saw only what I saw (the bent nose) and sent it back to me. I powered it up, everything works fine except for the side to side motors in the top stage. They are stuck but I think I can fix it. I have the original Green screen monitor for it as well but haven't used it in years since getting my Transvideo monitor. The CRT was banged up a few years ago, the screen has a crack in it and the magnets on the tube need realigning a circle on the monitor appears slightly ovoid. I have always taken very good care of this rig and I think its cosmetic and mechanical state speak to that, but it was used. A lot. I am happy to discuss at length any questions about the rig, I know there might be trepidation about this but having spent a long time with it since getting it back fro Tiffen, I think it could serve someone very well. If you are in the market for a very affordable rig that can support and power the biggest cinema cameras and lenses, this could be it. For piece of mind, I could ship the rig to Tiffen for another inspection if the buyer was interested. Elsewhere on this forum I am selling an excellent, very clean Tiffen Ultra Arm with 4 posts and a new socket. Could be a match made in heaven (or Burbank) Included with the sled are: lots of spare parts, CRT monitor with 2 cables yoke for Transvideo 6" monitor yoke for any monitor with a 1/4-20 screw mount. 3 camera plates, 2 long, 1 short Antler dovetail mount ( I used this for mounting a Codex Raw Recorder to the bottom of the sled) IDx and Tiffen 24volt battery mounts. 6 Tiffen 24volt batteries (recelled by Emory Soos at Lentequip) with 2 PAG chargers in a hard case. All offers considered. Happy to ship internationally at buyers cost. Gerard Sava gfsava@gmail.com
  2. I was premature in posting that last ad. In going over the gear, I am in the process of putting it all back together. The nose of the top stage was bent in a crash this summer and I won't know the status if the rig until I get it together and power it up. Then I will re-post . Thanks for your patience. Gerard Sava
  3. I should have mentioned the newest group of parts included in the sale. The lower unit includes an IDX 2 battery, orientable power unit. Switchable between 12 and 24 volts vastly improves power supply for new HD cameras. Both battery plates made by IDX and include 1 P-tap outlet.
  4. I have 90% of a Tiffen Ultra and would love to sell any or all of the parts to anyone who could use them. Including post, gimbal, monitor brackets, electronics, remote, stabilizer bars and cord, even a green screen monitor in pretty poor condition. In great shape are; 2 long plates, one short plate and an Antler mount for the dovetail. 3.5", 8", 12" rods New, unused monitor bracket for 1/4-20 mount monitors Yoke mount for transvideo 6" hd monitor 2-12volt XLR power cables 2- Monitor curly cable ( hirose to hirose) If you need anything, let me know, Gerard Sava Gfsava@gmail.com
  5. I have an F bracket for a Tiffen Ultra I could sell to you. With a 3.5" threaded post for Tiffen gimbal. US$150.00 Gfsava@gmail.com
  6. I think I've figured it out. The pin that secures the bracket to the gimbal handle is 90 degrees different on the Artemis handle than the PRO. Or vice versa. Before I spend more money, can anyone tell me if the holes for the pin on their PRO handle is parallel to the handle or perpendicular? Thanks, Gerard
  7. Any ideas/tips for cleaning the arm? Three weeks new and it's already filthy. G
  8. I just got my new PRO Titan arm and it's fantastic. I am curious about the low mode bracket, though. The post is pinned in such a way that the bracket is 90 degrees to the gimbal. Is that normal? It's not that comfortable. If I'm doing something wrong please let me know. Also, any clever ideas to keep from losing the post? Seems like an easy thing to do as it can fall so easily from the arm. Gerard
  9. My Master/Ultra arm is for sale. I have a new rig with PRO sized post and decided to get a new arm as well. This arm has served me really well and, like the chain on my bike, gets the most TLC. It's in great shape and the Titanium no-tools socket has been replaced with a stronger and brand new steel socket. With arm case and rain covers. Free shipping in continental US. $8000.00US email with any and all questions gfsava@gmail.com
  10. Are you sure it's not from the monitor? My Tiffen CRT would screech for a few minutes when it was cold. Quiet when warmed up. Try turning off the monitor and see if the noise goes away.
  11. Does nobody love my beautiful steadicam arm? Still for sale. Make an offer or off to eBay it goes.
  12. There are a lot of great choices out there, both new and used. Almost everything used can be refurbished and brought to like-new condition, but the older rigs can be limiting as far as power, rigidity, HD compatibility, etc. I'm selling my Ultra arm (on this site) even though there is nothing wrong with it, I just have schoolboy crush on the PRO arm. I replaced the adjustable, and fragile titanium socket with a solid steel one and its bulletproof. Dave Chameides is selling a perfectly good PRO sled that has a damn impressive reel to prove its function, only needs a BNC cable to run HD to the monitor. A used Preston FIZ is like getting a nice, used hammer. Easily made to function like new. But new is nice. It doesn't have to be the last rig you ever buy, but a good one might be.
  13. Rick, Is that an offer? Not included in the description, but part of the sale are (2) Sony TU-1040 receivers, one of which is a 4 channel diversity receiver.
  14. Any offer considered. I have a strong feeling $2500.00 is too high. (how about that for hard-nosed negotiating!?) gfsava@gmail.com
  15. Included are longer posts and the Tiffen/Steadicam tools free post lock. I replaced their's with the collar and bearing set up you see in the pics. Gerard
  16. Damn it! I'm a week away from a new rig, only to find out I'll still be a terrible person. btw, which way off the porch go the kids? In or out? Lucky to know you, Gerard

  18. Transvideo 6" Monitor for professional NTSC or PAL viewing in extreme conditions. Hot,cold, bright, dark. Brilliant as an onboard monitor for film cameras or as a SD Steadicam Monitor. Bulletproof electronics, amazingly bright screen with options for zooming, green screen, B&W and tons of electronic customizable settings. 19. Hi Peter, Unsurprisingly, a nice and generous offer from you. I am a paying member of the forum, I think it might have been something technical I overlooked. Thanks, Gerard
  20. Thanks, I'll try again, but I was trying to post .jpg files Gerard
