  3. i've been meaning to do this for sometime but i get lazy... but a part of my rig broke during a shoot a while back and i called howard, showed him what happened and i had a new piece of equipment the next day on set. no questions, no credit cards, no blame, no voicemails, no emails, nothing... just an answer of his phone and him at fed ex 10 minutes later....the next day i was up and running again...i forgot how good that is. so just wanted to give a small shout out.
  4. just wondering what the new wave of steadicam insurance is. i saw some add for film emporium. i'm still with walter p dolle but i think it expired. anyone who knows and if they are legit please email me. colinhudson@mac.com thanks
  5. hey jim... very happy to hear that... i remember hanging out with jim in high school talking physics when i had this idea for a focus device... no wait... never mind. i'll take you up on the beer. and if you don't mind just giving me all the beer including the ones that you'd be recklessly giving to other guys i know (i won't mention names) it would help me on my beer drinking dream of mine. congrats! colin
  6. hey charles, why aren't you inviting me to inflict damage to your house? I'll do it for free, and bring beer... I'm good for that stuff... happy new years to all. colinl
  7. i agree with howard, though I remember saying this a year or two back, the beginning of outbreak is one of my favorite shots ever. anyone know what the best brand of absynth is? the most fufilling? colin!!

  9. Hello there, this is colin hudson attempting to email a mass email to people so that they will come to my bbq which undoubtedly will turn to a party (not withholding all the redbull and its counterpart drink component; i.e. vodka, jaiger, or similar liquors that are considered "hard"). What day: It will be this friday the day after thanksgiving for all those people who are from LA or don't have enough time to get home wherever that may be. When: I'd say 7:30pm for the eaters, 9:00pm for the drinkers. what to bring: food, drinks, (there's a bbq to grill just about anything, and people who will drink just about anything) Where: 2530 Greenfield Ave Los Angeles, Ca 90064 directions: it's just north of the 10 freeway and just east of the 405. closest major cross streets: a block and a half south of Pico and 4 blocks west of Westwood, Note: greenfield doesn't intersect Pico, therefore coming from the east, make a left on veteran, an immediate right on ayers, and an immediate left on greenfield. Coming from the west, make a right on military, and immediate left on ayers, and an immediate right on greenfield. Another Note!! drive into driveway, roll down window and there should be a little table that has parking permits so that you can park on the street. then go park anywhere you want. Lost? call me at (310) 393--1157 Angry? I don't know what to tell you... Even another Note: Do bring warm clothes!! Though there will be a heater outside, it just seems quite nippy lately. Thanks so much, hope to see you all there. colin.
  10. hello all, I just don't get on enough because I just read ron's post about 4x4ing dated three weeks ago. so terribly sad... sorry ron, can we re-schedule? anyways, a few things...I am going to miss this saturday's get together per a night shoot. But I would love to see you all and if anyone is willing, I would love to sponsor a bbq the week after (as in the friday after thanksgiving thursday, for all of us people either from here (not many) or the people who just can't make it back home) and that way fred davis can get his grill back, and ron can drive over my neighbor's lawn with his hummer (I never liked them that much anyways). So Friday the 26th, drinking, eating, humming (in no way the sexual way--unless you bring girls), and drinking. Keep in mind I have shot glasses made of ice waiting to serve their purpose... And on a tech note and keeping the positive attitude going: I bought howards 4 stage post a little while back, and after a few weeks of adjusting I really love its versatility and rigidness. even after having a small problem with it, howard came to my house to help sort it out. he took a piece off his sled and gave it to me to make sure I was up and running the next day at work. And then a few days later, I went to his house to pick up another piece of equipment and to modify my ne sled, not only did he sit there with his hack saw fine tuning my sled, he and i sat at his computer for over an hour thinking of and engineering new ways of making his sled even sleaker. This is what I call customer service, and it is quite possibly the best and most important thing we as operators can ask for in this fickle world of steadicam. So, point being...party nov 26th...howard...good job... colin hudson

  12. hey, i'm doing a job in new york and ordered one of these new marell monitors and it should be shipped to me by the time I start my job. But...I never can completely rely on overseas shipping so I was wondering if anyone had a TB-6 or Pro monitor that I could possibly rent off them for this saturday sunday and monday coming up as a back up plan if this order doesn't come through. please call me at 310 393-1157 if you have a back up available or just not working this weekend and monday. thanks colin.
  13. hey I finally figured this forum out, thanks to erwin sending the right link. I think I was stuck somewhere in 2001. Anyways, one of my favorite shots is from mark moore in the opening of outbreak. it flowed perfectly, and gave a real sense of what the film was about. and thanks erwin for the nice compliment. colin. (haven't put a picture up yet.)
