Hi James, I spoke with Philippe over the phone this afternoon and I know he is super busy, he received a big order for his Clip-one and he is making them while also preparing for the IBC, he have seen the messages here and told me I could reply on his behalf as your question is exactly the one I asked the second time I tested the SledX. So that's what we did, we put the MIMIC sensor on the SledX and controlled a MoVI M15 this way, just to see what would happen. It did work, it was a very interesting experience, but the MIMIC has quite a lot of latency and it can drift, because of the technology it uses The SledX is intended to control a Gyro-Stabilized remote head, such as Brushless Gimbals (MoVI, RONIN), with almost no latency and zero drifting. with a completely different technology compared to the MIMIC. But I can't say much more about that. But don't hesitate to ask more questions to Philippe here, he will be able to give you answers soon enough. What I can say is that the SledX is a little marvel, it's impressive how it can manage to actively and perfectly stabilize itself and at the same time understand your gentle controls over its Central Post. Hi Kevin, There is a smart device from PLC Electronic Solutions, it's simply called the "C300 On/Off Cable" but it's actually an electronic that will use the trigger coming from your ARRI camera run cable plugged into it and will convert it to the LANC signal needed for a Canon C300 or a C500 or any other camera or recorder using this protocol, such as all the cameras from Blackmagic (Production Camera 4K, Cinema Camera & Pocket Cinema Camera) and also onboard recorders like the AJA Ki Pro Mini. The fact that it uses the ARRI camera Start/Stop cable we already own makes it compatible with all remote systems, be it a Preston or a Bartech, etc. Cool ! The Canon C300 has a SD video output, no need for a downconverter to use it with your SD monitor. You have to go into the camera's settings to get it from the "SYNC OUT" BNC port. Here's the part about it in the camera's manual : You can download the manual here : EOS C300 Brochures & Manuals

Well, when I asked about a MDR that would work with the WCU-4 on ARRI's booth at IBC the ARRI guy said there were none and that none were planned for now, but if You know the reference of such existing MDR and about a smaller upcoming MDR that works with it let us know, I don't work for ARRI and can only relay the replies I got to my questions from people actually working for that company. The WCU-4's build quality is great and I was with two operators and friends who are in the market for a FI+Z system so we asked about the use on other cameras than the ones from ARRI with integrated radio capabilities. We were disappointed and I didn't see why it wouldn't work with an existing or a new dedicated ARRI MDR but that is the reply I got. They were emphasizing the fact that with the WCU-4 You will be able to change settings on the ALEXA Plus/Studio like sensitivity, color balance, frame rate, etc. K.

Hi Jim, It's for the handset only, from what I have been told by an ARRI rep, the WCU-4 is mostly a FI+Z (and camera functions) remote designed for the ALEXA Plus and the ALEXA Studio, both cameras being equiped with the radio receiving and motors controling option. There is no standalone receiver to be paired with that handset planned for now. K.

Hi Adam, As a start I suggest that You remove one of the two batteries on the Penelope, with one battery You will get plenty enough of running time, and better yet, if You have the 12 volts 4 pins XLR power cable for the Zephyr then remove the other battery too and power the camera from your sled's battery, that way it will be much easier to balance the rig and there's even a chance that You are not going to be overloading it at all. (I don't know the exact numbers for the Penelope without batteries and for the Zephyr but on my PRO removing one of the two batteries of the Penelope is one of my simple pleasures, but I don't remove both as I would consider it pure laziness... also I am always aiming at a preferred camera weight and too light is too light) Enjoy shooting on film!
