  14. Hey All, I've got a series about to start in a month and they're using the Viper. I've never flown one, anything I should be aware of? Weight? Cables? etc. Lemme know when ya can. Cheers, Layton.
  15. Jerry, Will, thanks so much for the excellent info! We start prep on Monday and I will checkout, checkout, checkout! Cheers from the your colleague's up north. Layton.
  16. Hi all, I'm starting a job that's using Panavision XL's. I'm told that Panvision has its own plate for mounting the XL to any steadicam. I've got a Chroszeil top stage. Is there a specific mounting plate that I'd need to mount it to my Chroszeil? I already have the power cable for the XL, is there anything else I should get prepped for? Thanks, Layton.
  17. Hey Chris, I'd be there for ya if ya came to Canada. Let us "Canucks" know. Cheers, Layton.
  18. :) :) Hey Brett, I just replaced my MKV Evolution gimbal for a brand new V2 MKV gimbal. It's brilliant and flawless. Never had anything so stable with anything on the arm (a 3A by the way). Highly recommened. P.S., have never had anything but MKV, so can't speak for the others. Cheers, Layton.
  19. Yo BJ, how's it goin' eh! Thirty years old...I've got spit in my mouth older than that! Enjoy it bro' before ya know it the hair on your head disappears and resurfaces in your ears! Go figure. Hey, cheers and a happy birthday. Layton.
  20. :) Hey Janice, sounds great...anything to make low mode more manageable! I look forward to your advancement. Cheers, Layton.
  21. :) Hey Cameron, I started with an MK-V/3a from Howard and it was the perfect starter rig for me. I've now gone on to an MK-V Evolution and have had great success with it. Howard and his staff are always just a call or email away and the service has always been top-notch! I couldn't recommend them or the gear any higher. Directors, DOP's and especially first assistants love the rig for its simplicity and flexibility, I love it because it's flown everything I've thrown at it...plus it looks great. Lemme know if you've got any other questions. Cheers, Layton Burton
  22. This was last September (2004). I think the camera had the smaller IDX V-Lock Batteries. But we only had 4 batteries for 2 cameras, so I had to share with the handheld. And we were in the Bahamas, so no chance of getting more. It would have killed my sled batteries too quickly to just use 1 battery for both. Great Tech, though. No Camera problems, except when I got too far away from the recievers, which was quite a distance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :) Hey thanks all, I'll check into all of your suggestions! I love the forum. Peter, not only did your tally light work flawlessly on the awards show I steadied but even the talent on stage loved it because it was so bright they knew exactly when to play to the steadicam cam! Thanks loads! I'll recommend it highly to anyone! Brent, the CBC is sending out a pitch and catch system for the Queen's visit the middle of next month, but I'll give your guy a call to get some answers. Thanks again all, a pleasure hearing from all of you. Cheers, Layton.
  23. Hi all, anybody know anything about wireless transmission via a microwave link from the steadi op. (with mobile camera flying) to the broadcast truck? Lemme know. Cheers, Layton.
  24. Hey all, just got my antlers from Brant and they're beautful! Thanks, Brant. You do very good work! Cheers, Layton
