  1. Fact - TNT pays around $100 a day for day play Steadicam Ops as of Nov. 2013
  2. I'll Go first! Myth - "HBO doesn't pay portal to portal" Just worked on the 2nd season of an HBO show. I was told by my UPM "HBO doesn't pay portal to portal per the contract". Most of our locations were an hour each way from our base. Took the contract into 600 for interpretation. Not true! HBO gets 1 hour free for travel, THEN they have to pay portal to portal! So if your location is 40 mins from your base, then that's 20 mins of portal to portal you should be paid!
  3. Hi Brothers and Sisters, On another website, I've been reading a topic regarding Steadicam Operators accepting scale on a Tyler Perry show based on what the producers SAY they have. It got me thinking. Over the years, UPMs, Producers have told me the money the DONT have, and what the cable and broadcast companies WONT pay for because of low budgets. Then, as the show goes on you find out that they were wrong or flat out lied to you. Or, they proceed to throw bags of money out the window due to poor planning. We are all told different lies, sob stories and fairy tales about the budgets, and policies of shows and companies (FULL VALUE replacement insurance cert.!!?) So I thought let's create a topic where we all could see and share all in one place, the budgets and policies of the networks and cable companies! We can't change or fight for something if we don't have as much info as possible! My hope is that this begins a helpful conversation for the well deserved enrichment of us all!! Cheers!
  4. Hi All, Just curious, I may be behind on reading all the posts here, but have we given away the standard gear rental rate of "$1,000 per day 3 Day Week & $1,000 for day play"? If we have collectively given it away then fine. I just would prefer not to come acrossed as a hard nose holding out for what I THOUGHT were the standards. I received a call for a hit ABC show and was told the rental rate was $600 for day play!? One thing I thought we were holding out on was $1,000 a day on gear. Sure our individual skill sets may affect the daily rate, but gear? Let me know if I'm crazy, but since I just did a day on another ABC show and got the $1,000, I smelled something fishy. Cheers
  5. Hey Dennis, just curious. Did you sell the head?

  11. Hi All, I just booted up a new website called Steadicammarketplace.com. I thought a website that included links to virtually every know website regarding steadicam topics would be helpful. It's a mess right now (just thought of it a couple hours ago), but feel free to provide input to make it better. Feel free to contact me with comments and suggestions. Cheers, Bud Kremp budkremp@yahoo.com

  13. Hi All, Just sitting here in a coffee house with too much time on my hands, enjoying perusing SteadicamFourm. I saw that I was "member number 590". It made me wonder how many full time Steadicam Op's there were out there? I can remember knowing all 15 of their names back in the 80's!! lol Anybody wanna venture a guess (or know the answer-ish?) Cheers & caffine! Bud Kremp

  15. Hi All, Waaaaay back in 1987(?)....... I received a copy of a Ted Churchill demo from Victor Duncan. Well, after some clean'n and straight'n, I came acrossed it recently and tried to watch it. It is 20 years older (as am I) and we are both begining to show it (me a lot grey'er, the tape more drop out). So I had it transferred to DVD and it's good as new. Through various software programs, I've tried to compress it (with no luck) so that I may share it with you all. If anybody has any ideas, I'd be happy to try, so that you can enjoy it with me. Cheers, Bud Kremp
