  1. Just backup, you never know. Last week at NFL Kickoff, they didn't want my cart on the field. So the Turtle Stand was on the sidelines while my assistant carried the Moses Pole. It doesn't kill me on weight or space to bring it, so I just always have it in the bottom of the case. I have my American Steadicam Stand in a tripod tube but the extra baggage is annoying for most brief short term jobs. I'll bring it on longer format stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks Rob! I learned a lot of the tricks from watching guys like you. I got the travel bag from Inovativ almost immediately, otherwise you probably wouldn't see any stickers through the scrapes and dents from TSA! They already put 1 hole in the bag. I specifically requested grommets in the lid organizer, so Patti mocked one up for me. There's no way Velcro would hold up all that weight. And sure enough, the grommets matched up perfectly with the screw holes in the lid on the first try. The vest case is just an empty shell, nothing in the lid. I have a disassembled Gary Coleman stand in the bottom. Then I pack the arm inside the vest with a vest bag from Tiffen. My toolbag fits inside the waist strap of the vest too. Also crammed in there is my Moses Pole. Then some gaff tape, rain gear, and standby bag stuffed around the sides. Today at the airport, the Arm/Vest case was 72, Sled Case was 75, and Cart was 62. With my suitcase, that was 4 bags and it cost me $100. I think my Delta Platinum AMEX got me the 2 free? Or the ticket agent remembers me. No complaints here! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Innerspace Cases had custody of my sled for a week or two. But I walked in with all the gear I wanted to fit, plus some measurements for pieces I didn't have with me. I live in Orlando, I just happened to be in LA for work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I've always traveled with 3 cases (2 checked, 1 carry on), but I added the Scout 31 to my travel kit for Rio after talking with the infamous world traveler, Rob Vuona. It's a handy little cart (under 70lbs which flys free in Delta First Class), and it's the same diameter as the Pelican 1650 cases. Everything stacks on top and rolls easily in and out of the airport. I fit everything except C-stand/arm/vest/tools in my sled case with custom foam from Innerspace. They put a million hidden pockets in the base of the foam making optimal use of all the space. Fiber/triax jumpers, G-zoom, PGM return, prompter monitor, BarTech w/ motor, spare plates and arm posts, spare arm canisters, you name it! And Patti's lid organizer at Camera Essentials is far more durable and spacious than anything Pelican offers. I fit every cable I own for each of my Sleds in the lids. Of course batteries are carry-on only, and I never try to check them. A Pelican 1510 fits 8 Dionic HC and a Quad Charger easily and is sized to most overhead bins. On regional jets it still fits under the seat just fine. I've flown over 125,000mi this year with them and never had an issue. Lately I've only flown in First where I get 3 bags free, so without the cart everything travels free (including my clothes). Before that, I always had success with my NBCUniversal ID getting the $50 Media Rate (under 100lb) on Delta. I was turned down once years ago by a sassy agent having a bad day but a quick complaint on the phone got all my money back. All in all, I find it pretty easy to travel with gear. 5. That was a blast! Thanks for a ride on the Steadicab. And then letting us throw the Wave 1 on there as well! Great food, great people, and all our favorite manufacturers. Glad I finally made it out. Thanks for putting it together! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. $100 for the hi/lo mod $125 for the BFD to Stanton motor cable Then of course the price of the motor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I did have Jim Bartell modify my BFD with a hi/lo switch so it can run Stanton motors. He made me a motor cable for it too. That's primarily what I use on Live now. Make use of what you got rather than buy redundant systems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. That's a great question I'd also like to know the answer too. I know Peter Hoare can repair M-One but are they still manufactured? And I'm not 100% on this but I think he can repair Heden as well. Don't quote me. I use my G-Zoom with BFD same as David, so I'm sort of in the same boat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I sent mine to Peter Hoare and he spent months sourcing replacement POTs and trying to fix it. He really tried everything. The end result was it's unrepairable. I gave up on it. Now I have Heden motors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Every year when this event rolls around, I get booked. This year I coincidentally booked myself in LA! Schedule pending, I'm excited to be able to attend for the first time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Best option IMO. And get yourself a BPA-1 to go with it. It's a really long universal plate for other cameras and a solid mount for the Alexa too. Low profile and rigid.
