  1. The main thing that turns me off about the m21 is that the distance from rod mount to gear is so much shorter than the m26. Seems like I would need to use a dog bone when I wouldn't with the m26 which kind of defeats the purpose of it.
  2. This is a great kit that has served me very well. I have never had any problems with it. Includes some unique extras such as a larger gear for the motor and 15mm rod mount for the receiver. Iocated in LA area but I can ship. Includes motor cable and p-tap power cable. -Jess Haas, SOC
  3. Turns out my MDR1 outputs input voltage on pin7.
  4. The camera is available with an anton bauer back instead of V-Mount. Also be very careful when using the 4K recorder. The mounting between it and the body is mostly plastic and then the battery hangs off the back of it. Not sure I would want to put a shark fin on the back of it. Ive always flown it with a zoom lens. With that and a battery on the back and all the accessories it had enough weight to it. ~Jess
  5. Just wondering what people have done for a run/stop cable for the Red Epic with a Preston MDR1. Preston doesn't make one, seems like there are a couple of ways to do a custom cable. I saw a reference to some people adding a voltage reg in the MDR, pin7 seems to be unused. Would love some input. Thanks, Jess
  6. Without the diodes its easy to trip the protection circuit in Dionics. As long as you orient the diode in the right direction it will oppose reverse current flow regardless of which terminal you put it on. Also we are trying to prevent reverse current flow so that would be electrons moving from the positive to negative terminal ;-)
  7. If shooting UHD 3.2k whatever the second BNC will only output a clean 3G HD-SDI signal, you can't get framelines, overscan, 1.5G, etc... Also if you get a garbled image it is probably set to output at 48fps.
  8. But when on location having the parts handy would be nice. Last year after my old arm broke up in Utah I ended up machining a new gimble handle on the tailgate of the camera truck with only a trip to harbour freight and a metal supply place. Compared to that changing out the rod end bearings on my new Pro arm seems easy :-)
  9. Anyone know how much it would cost to carry some extra ones in the kit? Definitely seems to be the weak link.
  10. I have a full sized socket block I would be willing to sell if someone needs one to go with this.
  11. So when does the handsfree model come out so we can mount a steadicam on it? ;-)
  12. Have you ever played with using gyros on the hypercam? Any thoughts? They have definitely helped me with vehicle mount work on Steadicam but that was mostly overcoming wind which im sure is much less of a problem with the hypercam.
  13. Do you sleep on your back or your side? I have neck/shoulder problems if i sleep on my side but if im on my back i am fine. Its tough because ive slept on my side my whole life until recently but definitely takes care of it for me.
  14. My Teradek got fried on an Alexa as well. Some stuff was being moved around and I saw a spark between the BNC going to the lock-it box and the Alexa body and it fried the SDI line on the Teradek. I was using the 2pin lemo to power it. Nothing else was damaged. -Jess
  15. Janice, am i rather certain my wp dolle policy is good worldwide. Tomorrow ill dig out the paperwork to check.
  16. I would love to be there for that comparison. We could do a little mini monitor shootout and barbecue in my backyard in culver city if yall want.
  17. If you mean the pin that connects the arm post to the gimbal handle then this is the one that I use: http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/enter.asp?partnum=98404A010 It is actually a hair shorter than the one PRO provides but works just as well while sticking out a little less. ~Jess
  18. While the wp dolle policy doesnt cover rentals your gear is covered if you loan it to another steadicam op with a wp dolle policy isnt it?
  19. With 12" straps and no wheels you need to be very careful about keeping the weight above a leg while balancing or it will tip. With backstage wheels on it is solid regardless. At times i find my single riser stand to be a little short without wheels on it but it is significantly lighter than my double riser.
  20. Even without the battery I dont see you fitting a RED within the weight limit of a Pilot....
  21. Chris, can you share your preferences and thoughts?
  22. If anyone needs a tradein monitor ive got a broken camos and a couple 2.5in SD monitors around here somewhere.
  23. Switching the vest socket block is easy, or you can sand down the pin on the tiffen arm.
