  1. For sale, one MK-V Hummingbird LCD monitor with Video DA fitted. This has barely been used, probably 4 or 5 times and is fantastic condition, it features a 6.4″ (4:3) diagonal screen and 4:3, 16:9, 2:1 and user aspect ratios as standard using either PAL or NTSC signals. Built in frame lines, centre cross and border. Zoom in and out. Flip and reverse scan plus built in heaters for working in sub zero temperatures. The Hummingbird is the brightest daylight viewable LCD - sun hood not required The video DA gives true colours and contrast regardless of the video level. It also has the termination switch. This has the CP mount fitted. Connections to the monitor are 8 pin Lemo, BNC, 4 pin Lemo (power) or smaller 4 pin Lemo (power & video). Output is from a BNC socket. Looking for offers around £2500, not VAT to pay, will ship worldwide but buyer would have to arrange shipping due to personal time constraints. If you have any queries or questions please don't hesitate to give me a holler - jason@steadivideo.com

This is a great rig ... hasn't let me down, just needs a little work and loving! Looking for around £10k for the full kit, but I will negotiate on the price for a quick sale -- if shipping abroad, due to personal constraints, buyer would have to arrange this. Thanks! Jason
  4. Check out Allan Chapman and James - http://www.acjltd.co.uk/ - I was insured through them for a few years, good service and I had public liability included up to £1m, wasn't overly expensive either - but you gotta remember, you're dealing with expensive gear, it will be expensive to insure. HTH Jason
  5. Can't be half as good as the $89,000 RRP rig for sale .... http://cgi.ebay.com/Steadicam-Complete-Rig...1QQcmdZViewItem (aka Basson)
  6. You could always have one of these ... (stupid forum doesn't like eBay links) - just copy and paste this item number into the search - 120147819141 But ... I'm wondering, seeing as it's based in India - where will the call centre be based? <_<
  7. I'm just looking forward to how badly the UK do!!! For those who haven't yet seen our entry, your in for a real treat, these guys are representing the finest talent the UK has to offer - I'm putting money on nil points!! Jason
  8. Here's my suggestion (I think this should be possible) - make all new sign ups Moderated and allow the Moderators to allow or disallow these - you should be able to keep a track of the SPAM posters easier (generally their username is in the searchable location - a pattern emerges) - and those with real names can be allowed through - surely this will be more productive than deleting spam every few minutes, spending time allowing genuine members through. Jason /edit - found this : http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/7430
  9. I have to say I have had NO signups - but that's because I have implemented a system where you are required to click one certain image to continue - but having quickly tested out the signup system, I can't see the CAPTCHA system has been used - enabling this helps, along with other ways too, but it is possible to stop them, it just takes a little work. Just my two cents..... Jason
  10. It does make me wonder what our children will think if their role models are strange people with televisions in their tummy and are crossdressers!!!
  11. Here are two tips. The BIGGEST problem is that you have no Captcha image security (those little pictures of wavy-shaped text) - bots can read this, but if you change fonts (see here http://forums.invisionize.com/index.php?showtopic=106899) then it makes life so much harder for spam bots. Most if not all forums now have this as standard (even if not enabled). Another good method is the one already mentioned - Moderator/Admin approval, you can visually check each account that way. There is one final way, but I haven't found anything about this, I invented a system whereby you have to select a picture - from a choice of 6, get it wrong, you can't proceed, to a human they're simple, to a bot - it has no idea which is which. For me that has stopped 99.99% of bots signing up and spam posting. HTH Jason
  12. I think that there is a point beyond the fact they're a Moderator - it's the fact they're a Moderator and seem to have a personal vendetta against certain members and/or manufacturers - and whenever they get a chance to stamp their "disapproval" publically on this forum they take that opportunity. I won't name names, I don't really need to. I have no personal problem with the Moderator in question, I've never met them, nor do I wish to ever meet them - personally I wouldn't want to. Their attitude stinks and I'm sure the more junior members (I want to term that very carefully) may be a little cautious of posting in case they're shot down in flames. I wasn't going to post on this - I'm not sure if I should have posted this, but I believe that a Moderator is a member of staff, who should set an example and be an ambassador for the forum, no wonder people don't visit any more. Afton, this is nothing personal against yourself I have never met or spoken with you, but I have the greatest respect for you, along with a lot of other members here - it's just a shame it's been spoilt. Cheers, Jason
  13. Hi guys, I bought an MK-V Hummingbird mid last year, and I love it to bits, so much nicer to work with than the EFP green screen I had before - plus a hell of a lot of control over the image, I've worked for a long time without framelines, but I can't fault the Hummingbird at all. Picture overall is great, works better in sunshine in my opinion! I don't know too much about the TB6, only that it's an expensive monitor - but you get what you pay for and for me the Hummingbird was a great investment. If anyone has any specific questions or queries, I'll be more than happy to answer them. If there's anyone in the UK who would like to check mine out, your more than welcome to come give it a try :) Cheers Jason
  14. I second that, Happy Christmas and a very prosperous New Year! Jason
  15. The funny thing is ... like a small crash helmet is gonna protect you if it decides to break while you're at the top ;) I really think we should have a caption competition for this .... top picture - my entry would be "I can see my house from here!" Jase
  16. Wow, nice shoot down guys, probably not the best way to welcome someone to the forum.....
  17. I always felt it more logical to use the hand I write with as it has finer control - and this could be used on the gimbal - my left hand, well can't write for toffee, but does have power, so I can control the boom of the arm - I operate "goofy" (or "cack-handed" as someone I met recently referred to it) and feel it's most comfortable, plus all the camera controls are right by you. There is one thing I did notice, watching the Rocky (1) DVD, there was a feature about Steadicam (check the spelling on the menu) - and the very early footage of Garrett was goofy - I have been reliably informed that he can operate both sides, but find it interesting the early stuff was done that way.... Just my 2 cents. Jason
  18. I hate to say it but robots can read those "captcha" images, even when warped - the program I mentioned above can FULLY register to a forum - basically sign up, read the warped image, receive the email and click the link within. This is a HUGE problem - VBulletin is very prone to this problem, as it uses the captcha system - I came with a special system which means you have four images and you are given the answer - you have to click the corresponding image, this has worked for me and I have had NO spam members sign up. I don't know how it would work with this forum software (Invision Power Board), but there are ways around this. Jason
  19. It's this software to thank for it: hxxp://www.botmaster.net/more1/ (url changed so that it can't be trawled) $400 for a program that takes out all human intervention to posting on forums just like this, and many thousands more. It's a true pain and at this point no real way of stopping it. Jason
  20. Just a quick question - has it been worth while using it - do you get many hits from it? I see several operators advertising there and have been wondering how effective it is. Cheers Jason
  21. Congrats - it really is easy to change over - if you need any help give me a shout ;) Jason
  22. Here's the MK-V Gimbal Upgrade on my EFP .... works like a charm and is very simple to change over. Jason
  23. I think that this thread has gone slightly off topic ... but just to add my opinion - Chris those of us who subscribed did see your post before it had been deleted, and I totally agree. I think that Mr Fletcher should stand down as Moderator - he clearly has a "dislike" for MK-V and I feel this is unfair to the whole Steadicam (not brand!!) community - this does not reflect well for an "un-biased" forum. Just my personal take on this .... delete this post or ban me, I don't care either way. Any way back on topic ..... I would highly recommend the MK-V V2 gimbal as it's the smoothest I've ever tried and for a quicker simliar alternative the gimbal upgrade rocks - and I have found no problems with mine, it has been 100% since day 1. HTH Jason
