  3. Charles, Congrats on the jump. From a younger operator who studied your steadicam work, I can't wait to see what you bring us as a DP. Best of luck! Scott
  4. Bryan, I did have an interference problem a while back. The interference was very minor and unfortunately was not noticed until they saw the footage on a larger screen a few days after the shoot. The camera was a lower end digital camera, which was part of the problem because I think the cheaper cameras have less insulation. I also mounted the Canatrans directly on the camera, right next to the tape recording. Lesson learned for me. The problem has since been solved by just moving the canatrans just inches away. I can't speak for everyone but I would be more concerned for interference on cheaper cameras than I would with the F35 or Alexa or even the RED. Scott
  5. Hey Everyone, Just wanted to give a huge shout out and thank you to Will Demeritt. He saved my behind today. My canatrans went down on set and within 15 minutes Will was there with his Modulus to get me through today and tomorrow. It really is a great pleasure to know that we all stick together and help each other out at any given time. Will, I'm in your debt!! Which leads me to my next question. Who is the best person for Canatrans repairs here in the LA area? Thanks Will and everyone else. All the best, Scott
  6. Here is the pic of the DSLR cage. Sorry about that. First time trying to post pics...
  7. I used a new cage that a friend of my built. He made it with the black magic box installed and all the proper connectors (lemos and fischer) on both sides. And an IDX battery mount to power everything. It was still a little light with everything on it, including the cam-wave, but not bad. Here are some pics...
  8. We talked briefly about shooting. I must say that it peaked my curiousity. Maybe next time. I must say that shooting with Robert might be better than shooting with the D21 with the OB one recorder that I flew that night.
  9. I just want to throw out a huge thank you to Robert Starling. I had a night shoot in Vegas this past Thursday and a few hours before call I noticed that I had misplaced my 19mm-15mm insert for my m-one motor. I left Robert a voice message and he called me back within five minutes. Twenty minutes later I was in his house with the proper inserts to make it work and having a nice conversation on his living room sofa. I know that it was a small item but the fact that he gave up a few hours of his afternoon to help a fellow operator is huge. That is one of the best parts of this forum is to meet and talk with operators from all over the world, so no matter where I go I feel a little better knowing I could give someone a call if I'm in a jam. If anyone has any issues or questions in Vegas or LA for that matter, give Robert a call. Thanks a lot Robert. I hope to see you again soon, under better circumstances. All the best, Scott Dropkin
  10. standard Arri 2 pin power, 3 pin start/stop, SD output on camera, S-TWO OB-1 around 7 lbs My linkhttp://stwo-corp.com/Products/?item=OB_1 Jens, Perfect. Thank you so much.
  11. Just thought I would ask some d21 questions since the post is already started. I am unfamiliar with this camera and just wanted to know a few things. I will be doing a one day shoot with this camera and they want to use the OB-1 recorder. How much heavier is that recorder? Also, do I need a separate down converter or is there an SD output on the body? Are the power and start/stop connectors the same as the LT? Any other hints are greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. Scott
  12. Amedeo, Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I wanted to add "behind the scenes" footage but I haven't received any yet. Thanks again, Scott
  13. Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing fine. I just wanted to invite everyone to my website and reel to get some feedback from you. Good & bad feedback is needed. Also, if anyone notices any problems with the site please let me know. Check it out at www.scottdropkin.com Thanks everyone, Scott Dropkin
  14. William, I just did a job with the Elaine and asked a couple of questions before hand. Check out this thread to see if it helps. http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=10915 Since this is your first film shoot, I'm assuming it is your first panavision shoot. Make sure you get the Panavision/steadicam dovetail plate. The Elaine is already a heavier 16mm camera and you don't want to add any more weight. Hope it goes well, Scott
  15. Thanks for the help. I will give an update after the gig.
  16. Hi all, I have a job coming up with the Panavision 16mm "elaine" camera and just had a couple of questions to ask. I tried to search for them but I didn't find any answers, so I apologize if this is repetitive. Mainly, what type of connector is used for power? Is it similar to the Millennium or Gold? Also, what is the weight of it? If I remember it is a little bit heavier than the SR3, but I can be completely wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, any other issues that I have not mentioned would be a great help. Thanks, Scott
  17. Erwin, Unfortunately, I had the Canatrans mounted exactly has you did. Except, our DIT didn't see in during the card dump. Thanks for the reply. Future reference for where I need to mount the transmitter. Thanks, Scott
  18. Ian, Thanks for the reply. I wish I knew that this could have been an issue earlier. Live and learn. Scott
  19. Guys, I just did a shoot with the HVX200 HD video camera. I just got off the phone with the producer telling me that all the Steadicam footage had a diamond pattern interference all over the footage. While shooting I never saw any problems with the image on my monitor or the transmitted image to video village. The producer talked to the rental house and they told them that the Canatrans that I had caused the interference. I just wanted to ask everyone if they have either experienced something like this or heard anyone that has. I obviously never heard of this happening and just wanted to know if anyone did. Thanks for all your help Scott
  20. Marianne, Thank you for your help. You are correct, I do have the 6' Cine3 Monitor. I would love to see the specs on the upgrade to the Cine3A. I will definitely take you up on the connector modification. How long does it usually take? Since I live in Los Angeles can I just bring in it to the Transvideo office? Are you in the office next week? I would like to talk to you more about the other monitors available and more specifically upgrading mine. Again, thank you for your help and I look forward to speaking with you soon, Scott Dropkin scottdropkin@yahoo.com
  21. Hey everyone, I have a Film Master Sled with the 4" Green Screen CRT. I am currently in the process of finding a new monitor to replace it with when the green screen finally goes down and I just have a couple of questions to ask. Will it be possible to have the digital level appear on my new monitor? If so, what kind of wiring or cable do I need to make? For any operators out there who have made this switch, is there anything that you would recommend to do? Such as, what monitor to get or what brackets to use? Obviously, any help is greatly appreciated. I hope everyone out there is doing alright with this SAG debacle going on. Talk to you soon, Scott
