  2. Remember when you look down, that is not a Beer Belly, it's the fuel tank to a love machine. Happy 2009. Kris that is the quote of the day! haha, thanks for the input from everyone, i definitely have some new ideas and things to try from your posts. rob, that is really impressive that you ride your bike to work! im going to have to give it a try!:) and how do you fit everything into a smart car?
  3. hi all, what are some of the best excersizes (if any) that you use to keep your back and legs and body in shape? im looking for some alternatives as i am bored of my current gym routine! anything helps! thanks in advance!
  4. i live in downtown los angeles, and have been for the last 3 years. i finally found a place that is not such a pain to move cases around in, but i would definitely take that and parking into consideration. many of the "lofts" around here can be or have: 1. an over priced studio apartment, but they have exposed brick, so for now some reason it is considered a loft. 2. do not offer parking, or do offer parking, but will add 150.00 per month for one space. if they do not offer parking, then you will have to park in a lot which will charge you about the same price. some places do include it in the rent though, like the chapman building on 8 & broadway. 3. if you are looking in downtown, find a place that is near an alley to load and offload from (there are literally billions of places to choose from, and they all have some kind of rooftop extravaganza to entertain on), so you arent stuck lugging your gear 1 or 2 blocks to wherever your car is parked. there is literally no place to park your car on the street for 15-20 minutes (unless it is after 7pm or before 6am) while you bring down your cases that you will not incur some kind of ticket or come down and see a tow truck backing up to your vehicle, unless of course, you want to pay a meter every time you load and unload equipment. 4. beware jay walking tickets. its true, and ridiculous. ive gotten 3. they are not cheap. 5. unless it is after 7pm, your friends will have a great deal of trouble finding parking that they do not have to pay for or, god forbid they drink to much and have to stay over. they tow on every block in the morning monday - friday. i have had to drive many to the yard to pick up their car, and no one is pleased. other than that, downtown is awesome, just be very careful in selecting a place. many of the buildings are charging enormous amounts in rent because they have a jacuzzi on the roof, or were supposed to be for sale and are now renting, so that is something to look out for too. if you want any help finding places in the area, send me an email. im more than happy to help!
  5. hi nick! thanks for the information! i have been flying it for the last few days with no problems really besides the weight... we are not recording to any flash mags, but to a deck that is usually at video village. as for the battery power and booting the camera up, i really havent had any problems with that either. i am running the IDX power cubes with my sled and we change batteries once in the middle of the day, maybe twice if the day is extremely long. booting the camera up has been smooth every time thus far as well. the main thing i am having issues with is the actual weight and front heavy-ness of the camera. since we arent using flash mags, the camera is majorly front heavy and with master primes, it just adds to that factor. i weighed the camera, just by itself at clairmont with a lowmode bracket in place of the optics and it came out to 37.5lbs. that is without the lense. when fully built, with wireless video, focus, iris, (2 bartech transmitters and m-one motors), mat box, 27mm master prime, it came in at 53.6 lbs. i i also ended up adding weight rods to the bottom of my sled to have the option of a shorter post. if you have any suggestions, comments, ect. i definitely welcome them. we have three days left with this beast, and everything helps. i appreciate the comments from everyone! and the archived posts were also very helpful! thank you!
  6. has anyone been flying the d-20? i am on a job now with it and find that it is a beast and that i am hardlined to a deck... any suggestions? thoughts on this camera? i would love to hear... hope all is well!
