  1. So Jim is the M26P a 5-pin? What about a PT? Just curious... thanks.
  2. This is turning out to be an impressive expedition crew, I mean A-Team stuff. Shotz could almost pass for Mr. T if he goes back to the mohawk. BJ, if you promise to bring the explosive tip arrows you can count me in. -Matt P.S. Jason do you still summit Denali for a living?
  3. Hey Jason, Call Carlos at Innerspace Cases. 818-767-3030 They have done a bunch of custom Pelican foam jobs for me and Erwin practically lives there. I'll send you some pix if you want. -Matt
  4. Rob is dead on. The only major drawback to switching regulators is the interference that can be induced in the delicate video signal. Fortunately this is an easy fix with a couple of capacitors. The cost of a switching regulator is negligible relative to everything else in the film/steadicam world. You can get a really nice adjustable 3-amp DC-DC switching regulator (Power Trends) from DigiKey for about $18 USD. Then a couple of bucks for capacitors, wire, a trim pot, a pico fuse (to protect against shorts), heat shrink to cover the board when you are done, epoxy and you're all set. These regulators are very efficient, produce a lot less heat (wasted battery power), don't take up that much space, don't weigh much, all said and done for under 30 bucks. Hope this helps, if you need more info or picts let me know.
  5. That is a nice landing, thanks for hosting that vid.
  6. Congrats on working this out. Thanks for posting the pict of the 1000' setup, gnarly with the FI+Z on top, but whatever makes it work, right? :D A small technical note (sorry I wasn't following this thread earlier): The Arricam LT and Millennium XL only run up to 40fps. The Millennium XL2 will do 50fps. I wish Arri would build that capability into the LT, I've needed 48fps so many times and had to switch bodies. I suspect that ARRI intentionally left the LT at 40 because it helps to validate the heavier and bulkier (and quieter) Arricam ST.
  7. Recently I've shipped a lot of stuff with FedEx GROUND. It takes 4-5 days to go cross country, which is often too slow, but the rates are surprisingly really LOW if you have the time (i.e.. wrapping a job then going on vacation before heading back to LA). The waybills are different from FedEx Express, but it all works with your (or production's) FedEx account so you can go on-line and set up ship-to/from addresses and print out all of the stuff. FedEx also has those nice handle tags so you don't have to slap stickers and pouches all over your cases. Of course everything can be tracked and FedEx is Kinkos and so the drop stations and supplies are everywhere in the US and most are open 24 hours. :-)
  8. Hey George, is this for a 1.5" or 2" center post?
  9. I too have heard this rumor, but have not been able to confirm it. I also asked Able Cine Tech, which I have been told sells the most Modulus 3000 units, and they claimed to know nothing. Anyone?
  10. Thanks for posting this. I know a bunch of Ops that use Walter P. Dolle. This just reaffirms that this is the way for me to go.
