  1. FOR SALE: Brand new SmallHD 1303 HDR Production Monitor and accessories. Purchased in November from the DVShop in Toronto. Tested once and put back into original packaging. Panel has less than 2 hours on it. I was going to use this monitor as a focus monitor, but decided to stick to the 703 instead due to being in such tight sets. The monitor comes with a Gold Mount Power Kit/Cheese Plate, as well as a Sun Shade and one Rapid Rail Mount for mounting a wireless receiver. The gold mount plate features small risers that raises the plate up by approximately 1/2", to allow a standard Vesa mount to attach underneath it. SmallHD designed the cheeseplate/gold mount adapter to conflict with standard Vesa mounts, forcing you to use the SmallHD C-Stand/Table mount, which I do not like because it does not tilt. This modification from VFGadgets allows you to use any tilting Vesa mount of your choice. Brand new, this monitor goes for $3,499 USD. Accessories valued at $450 USD. I am asking $3,000 USD for the package. Buyer pays shipping. Pictures can be sent upon request, but would prefer not to take the monitor out of the packaging.
  2. Hello Light Ranger 2 users! The wait is finally over. Newly designed cheese plates for the Light Ranger 2 VOU are now available. These cheese plates follow the proven design of the MDR cheese plates designed by Kar Wai Ng. Now you can attach and fix a CineLock to your VOU to mount it on the camera, on the focus monitor, or just about anywhere. This is one of the most versatile and simple cheese plate designs on the market. Just ask anyone with a Kar Wai MDR cheese plate! These plates were designed in collaboration with Engineered Cinema Solutions, in Canada. They are available for sale for $145 CAD, or about $120 USD. You can purchase them now at Engineered Cinema Solutions or FilmFrog Media! Pair your VOU with a P-Tap VOU Splitter cable, and simultaneously power your VOU and HD Video Receiver (Teradek, Boxx) from a single P-Tap outlet on your focus monitor! This cable is assembled in Canada and available in different configurations starting at $200 CAD, or about $165 USD.
  3. FOR SALE: DM2 Motor No. 4922 Excellent condition. Purchased new in 2012 and only owner. Motor runs quiet and fast. Recently serviced. Comes with a Jerry Hill rosette installed. Original 15mm motor posts can be included upon request. Cosmetically has a few bumps and scratches, but overall looks great. See pictures. Asking: $2000 USD Shipping via Canada Post to Canada or US destinations included. Thank you!
  4. Hey Alex. I have done this before with a small shaving mirror mounted flat to the chart in the center. A lens light on the camera can help find where the camera roughly is (it can be hard to find at the really long distances), but essentially find the front element of the lens in the reflection in the tiny mirror. So long as the mirror is mounted flush to the chart and the chart is perfectly flat, there should be nothing else you need to do to get perfectly square at any distance. The only thing this doesn't help with is the 'roll' axis, but I find levelling the chart and camera should take care of this axis. J
  5. Hi there. I was going through some old things and found this unused arm post adapter. It is meant to go into an older Master series arm, with the spiral thread, and ends in a 5/8" post that can slip into a Pro or XCS gimbal. I originally bought this for a Master series arm I owned but have since sold and upgraded to Pro/XCS. No use for this post anymore. It has never been used, anodizing still fully intact. Ordered from Tiffen a few years ago. According to Tiffen price list, this part costs $189 USD. I'm looking for $150 USD or make me an offer. It is brand new. Located in Toronto.
  6. Oooh, good to know, will check that out too!
  7. I like these too! But so bulky! How thin can you get cable for these?
  8. Good luck! If you get stumped, there's always this! Haha https://engineeredcinemasolutions.com/ultra-thin-spaghetti-hd-sdi-bnc-cable/
  9. Hi Stephen At Engineered Cinema Solutions, we use Canare L-1.5C2VS cable and BCP-C1 Plugs, which are solder core and crimp collar for "spaghetti" type BNC. Outer diameter is approximately 2.9mm and I believe this is the thinnest cable Canare makes. Belden makes a slightly thinner cable at 2.5mm but I have found the Canare to be the best balance between flexibility, thinness, and durability. It's more economical than going with a custom cable maker too. You will need a Canare TC-1 Crimp tool and the TCD-1DB die set for the crimp tool to crimp the collar, as well as a basic soldering station with a fine tip, and a bit of liquid flux. It starts to add up once you factor in all the tools required, but if you're making a lot of cables it's worth it. I order my Canare supplies from HAVE Inc in Hudson, NY. They are fantastic there and always well stocked. Hope this helps.
  10. Hey Alan. Maybe I can help. Reach out if you're in the city and we can take a look at your rig and see what's doable. J
  11. Do you have a photo of this? I was thinking the same thing!
  12. Hi Virtual Horizon 3 users! I'm curious to see how you mount your Virtual Horizon 3 external level module on your sled. Do you use a gyro clamp on the post? What is the threading size on it? Show me your setups! Also, Starlite HD users! How do you mount your Starlite monitor under your MDR for low mode? I have seen this done here and there and would love to find a rigid way to mount it under the MDR for low mode. What do you use to achieve this?
  13. Hi everyone Curious what you all recommend and prefer as a recorder on the steadicam these days, and where you like to mount it. Pictures welcome! Thinking about a Transvideo Starlite for recorder/low-mode monitor under MDR, or maybe a cheaper Atomos recorder. Or maybe there's something new out there?
