  4. Hi Adam May I say like many others we have $1000's of dollars of cables some made by Terry West (great cable maker )and a local guy(in Australia). If you don't know exactly what you are doing is it worth the grief and worry of if you didn't wire the cable exactly right and your time to make it .I have found it much cheaper to just call Terry and I have the cable in a few days and I sleep well at night knowing it 100% right . Just my 2 cents All the best From the Face of Lemo Louis Puli

  7. so, how do you "store" your tape strips on set? I guess you don't make new ones all the time on set...you mark all the strips in camera prep right? Any tricks on how lens changes on set are faster with the BFD? Louis, yeah, my AC was thinking of doing some plastic thing too... Let me know how yours works out... best, Jerry Hi Jerry All remote focus rings are marked up on the Prep day and is stored in the lens case as usual As soon as I make some up I will send them to Jim for his approval and then make them available to everyone ok. Thanks Louis Puli
  8. Quote" The handset itself was recently dropped onset when somehow the metal piece that the neckstrap connects to came unscrewed. Seemed to still work fine at the time and for a few shoots since so I don't think it is the culprit, but you never know". Thoughts? ~Jess Hi everyone After my assistant also dropped the handset because of that small metal piece holding the neckstrap I have now used "lock-tight" on all my handsets and seems to have stopped that problem . Jess I had a intermittent problem again after it had been droped I would open the handset and check that the "chip" is still in place . Good luck Louis Puli
  9. Hi everyone I have been testing several different types of plastics over the last month and hope to have something I hope Jim will stock soon . Jim has in the past had focus rings but has run out of stock. Watch this space. Louis "BFD Australia" Puli
  10. Hi Xiao Congratulation now you are offering something of some value not small change or token amount which most operators are insulted by.I know there will be some one how will take you up on this offer . Good Luck Louis Puli
  11. "Don't take it personally that you get a harsh response on the forum but pretty much all of us have been asked to do one of these and almost every time, it's way more of a headache and damaging to the gear and/or body that makes it very unappealing to us. If you can't get a steadicam shot, reconfigure the script, do it with a doorway dolly, steal a wheelchair, do it on rollerblades, whatever it takes to get the shot to work in the script. On the next bigger budget project you do you will appreciate each piece of gear and the professional behind it that much more" Hi everyone My comments exactly Rob .I am finding it hard to restrain myself on this one . For your $150 here is what you can afford. There is TV station I know how use one .Just think what you can use it for after the shoot. Good luck . Louis
  12. Hi Juan ,Amando Why don't you consider inviting all the steadicam op's together and consider to have a steadicam guild of spain and issues like this can be approached at a group level and not on one to one situation. You will alway have ops doing it for less but as a group you may have some guidelines to work from base rates and upwards tv rates feature rates etc . May I say Ops are low balling here to just to get the work . Good luck Louis Puli
  13. "Sorry you had to go through all of that but I would have a chat with your friends at Panavision and inform them that the backpack has been SOP for a few years now out here. Fiber has gained more popularity and the SSR's are occasionally glimpsed (but priced so high that most shows can't afford them), but the backpack is tried and true and certainly not a high risk. I would actually say that I have heard more about equipment failure and injury as a result of operators flying one-piece than issues with the two-piece setup." Hi everyone Thanks Charles,Phil Before saying yes I did read everything about the Genesis on the forum but when the techo's got in to the ear of the producer about possible problems etc that was it NO splitting it. As for me next time I will split it regardless . Thanks again Louis Puli
  14. As for the first 2 shots both very dangerous but they said "YES I can do it "?? Here is a very safe crane mount Large base grips on the case .
  15. Here are a few examples of some good and not so good shot of op's on cranes .Many cranes have a small foot print or platform I would increase the size to give you as much space as needed and safe as possible. If is in any way at all un safe say NO. all the best. Louis Puli
  16. Hi everyone There were a number of outside forces from the producer and dp after they had spoken with the tech guys at panavision about the possible problems of splitting the recorder from the camera and that we were shooting off normal camera speed on several shots and also paying for a extra crew person to lug the backpack around .I did say the only way I would do it was for any long shots (walk and talks) I want to be hard mounted on what ever (western Dolly /rickshaw etc) which they were fine with and we did. Most of the shots were 30 seconds to one minute in length which worked out fine Having said that I will never fly it again one -piece . Also panavision didn't have the hard drives available at the time. All the best. Louis Puli from down under.
  17. Hi Andrey I see your 435 and 1000'mag and raze it .A Genesis with the lot Preston 2 motors ,short zoom cinetape ,matt box filters ,etc etc. Louis
  18. Hi Everyone I would have to agree with everyone I have been there as well . "Why do we do these things, why don't we say no? I think possibly the kind of of people who take up steadicam operating have a "can do" attitude and enjoy a challenge." I have no problem with the challenge but I am sorry to say some producers are taking advantage of our kindness regardless of the budget. ."I am saying NO more now then ever before. Yes there will be op's how will do the job but at the end of the day they are screwing us all . Here is a link we all should considering http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=80934607510&ref=mf Just my 2 cents worth . Louis
  19. Hi Ryan If they did that to me it would be reflected in my invoice. I had a recent job where a company asked me to work from 9am to 2am Fine but from 9am to 1pm (4 hours) then a 8 hour break then 9pm to 1am (4 hours) thats an 8 hour day right NOT.At no time did they tell me about the break until I got to set .There for I charged them accordingly. Here is a still I use as a screen saver looks great Blurrrrred still.
