YES!!! So the shopping list would be: - Model 1 (or 2)...probably best with modern battery mount, cant imagine there are any working NC12's at this point and monitor needs to fire up! - 3A arm - 2C, four baffles would be fantastic, 3 would be OK also. BL1 or 2 would be sort of hilarious. Eyepiece tap, preferably with tube camera (Jerry Holway may have). - lens--anamorphic would be ideal, vintage of course to match the camera! - long throat mag (I have the SL cine ARRI 3 mags but would be even better with original converted mag--not going roll film through, just has to be able to mount)

Very good, Rich. I now see that this is listed in the video description, my bad for not looking there. -
Connex mini: short review
Charles Papert replied to Charles Papert's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
Rich, they weren't super clear with their setup unless I missed it--they were recording audio separate from the camera, and wired? As that would be the logical way to test the latency. Looks good if so. -

Opinion from other ops on the matter of " credits "
Charles Papert replied to nelson o reis's topic in Journals
If the reel is clearly slated as a DP reel, I don't believe this is misleading. If he was also a Steadicam operator and it was slated as a DP/Steadicam or a DP/Operating reel then it might be a concern. Likewise for your reel. This came up for me at one point in the 90's when I used a sequence for the opening of my Steadicam reel and the DP objected, saying it would cause confusion since he wanted to use it on his as well. I used the above reasoning and stood my ground. It was in fact a day exterior scene shot primarily in available light, so other than demonstrating his ability to meter an exposure, I think the shot was far more logical on a Steadicam demo reel! -

I seem to have preternatural luck with the length of service on my AB batts...my original Dionic 90's lasted forever, and I still have 6 HC's that I can't put an exact date on but I'd guess from '09 at the latest. And I don't leave them on a charger, so they sit around sometimes discharging for months. Admittedly they haven't been drawn heavily for the past 5 years (no cameras, more like namby-pamby accessories like Decimators and Teradeks and onboard monitors etc) but it's still sort of astonishing.

Lightweight, sweat-friendly button up shirts?

Uniqlo stuff is indeed cool (on multiple levels)!! -
Seems like the Technodolly would have been a likely tool--operate the shot with the actor then just have it repeat for the "clean" pass (of course you still have the arm and camera in there, so not exactly a picnic for the VFX guys regardless)! Definitely a fun clip to watch. I've always liked Spike Jonze' sensibility.

Connex mini: short review
Charles Papert replied to Charles Papert's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
Have continued to have good experience with the Connex Mini. Strongly considering getting another one and seeing how well two units play nice, and if so moving forward with an SDI solution and making them primary transmitters for my setup. -
Has anyone seen the film yet? Any thoughts on whether it was worth it?

Cheap SDI to HDMI converter
Charles Papert replied to Zoran Vincic's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
Sony F5/55 and Varicam outputs psf...as does Alexa in 23.98 mode but you can internally switch it to 59.94i. It's enough of an issue that it's worth noting. I know that Cinetronic monitor users battled that one, so they may be able to pitch in in terms of which other cameras presented psf.
