  1. Hi Chris, Yup I recently fried my Wevi Cam Wave doing that. Kinda wireless-less now. Was so thankful it didn't destroy my sled. Wish I had came across similar advice earlier. But thanks for the explaination, it has made things clearer. Regards Joel
  2. Hi all, Was wondering if anyone has a Used RIG HD by Betz up for an offer. Do let me know. Thanks in advance. Regards Joel
  3. I recently wanted to change over from the CP batts to the AB on my Master sled. Being new to the craft and of all places, being in Singapore where its difficult to get technical support on this matter, I sent out a distress call on the forum and in a matter of days, got such overwhelming help. I would like to extend my gratitude to Paul Dudeck, Alec Jarnagin, Afton Grant and Brant Fagan for going out of their way to give me the information and technical details of how to get it done. The sled is all set up now and once again couldn't have done it without these guys. Thanks once again guys! Regards Joel
  4. Thanks Iain, appreciate the prompt response! Regards Joel

  6. Hi All, Looking to D.I.Y the wiring from the original CP battery mount of the Master series to the AB Gold Mount. Would like to know anyone can offer an insight from the 5 wires (cp) to the 2 wires (AB) Would it be safe to just connect the black and red wires and seal up the other 3 or do i have to attach them somehow to the black and red ones? Would appreciate if someone can help me out. Thanks again guys :) Joel
  7. Great advice guys ;) Much appreciated! Regards Joel
  8. Hey Charles, Yup definitely agree that each has its place. I guess it will take a while for me to figure out the pros and cons of each. Will keep trying, thanks for sharing ;) Regards Joel
  9. Hey guys, thanks for the feedback and advice. yup will probably look out for the gyros. luckily we got enough footage before it became a little too dangerous with the winds. yup mike toward the end i switched it to low mode and it was a little better will definitely rule out the antlers coz it does sound too much of a hassle. and will look into the options u guys have highlighted. great to have you guys around! regards Joel
  10. Hi All, Was wondering if I could tap into your experience of operating the rig on a boat against strong frontal winds.. Was asked to do a boat shot and sold the idea of using the steadicam knowing that the benefits the horizontal axis. After the set up (soft mount), got the grips to set up 3 4X4 flags to help keep the wind off: one on each side of me and one at the back. Everything went well at the beginning until the boat started to pick up speed and i realised i was fighting very hard against the frontal winds. The shot was a mix of wide and long lens. With the tighter shots I could put the flags at the front to help fight the winds but with the wide it was quite difficult. How should I approach the set up if I was to do it again? Would antlers come in handy? Can anyone kindly offer some operating tips? Your help will be very much appreciated ;) Regards Joel
  11. Hi All, Was wondering if anyone's got a couple in good condition for sale. Mine's in bad shape. Do let me know the price too. Thanks. J.
  12. Thanks guys, I'll give corrosionX a go. Not sure if they have it here but will look around. Thanks again for your time J.
  13. Hi All, Was hoping to tap into this pool for help on my corroding arm. The springs are still fine but the 2 parts that are giving in to the humid south east asian climate are: 1. all the circles with the 2 screws at the joints 2. the area where the Steadicam logos are on the Master series arm I tried applying an oil coat but it wipes off very quickly when sweat gets on it and the corrosion is getting from bad to worst. How do you guys maintain it in humid climates? Please help. Am a newbie Warmest Regards Joel
  14. Hi Anthony, Took a few pics of the set up. Hope it helps! ;) J.
  15. Hi Anthony, Yup had it mounted to my Master rig on the shoot am doing now. The base area of the sled seems to fit the width just nice but the main problem I faced was trying to tape it down - slippery surface. My asst and I tried all kinds of ways even thinking of screwing it to another dovetail and then mount it to the existing 4 holes at the bottom where the rubber pads are. At the end the best solution was cable ties! The only irritating thing was you have to drop a BNC down from the top sled and it could get in the way of operating it. So I got myself a really thin 75ohm short BNC jumper and it worked out great. And the added weight made it easier to get the gimbal neared the camera. And yes its a beautiful piece of equipment. However everytime they wanna playback you got to tilt your rig horizontal! Hope this helps. J.
  16. Hi Guys, Thank you for the warm response. Louis, I have contacted Joshua from Camquip and unfortunately he doesn't hold it anymore. Geoff, David's still around but most of his gears should be in Bangkok already, will try to get hold of him again. John, I will keep your offer in mind but i think the shipping cost to Singapore with insurance would be costly. Thanks again guys, currently looking to tie down with FEG for the mags. Keeping in mind the SL mags as an option. Louis, please look me up the next time you're here. Regards Joel

  19. Someone kinda hacked into the owners account and set up something called a spoof account. The mail which is 'approved' by ebay looks very authentic only for a few tell tale signs that I figured out only after the whole incident. anyway he even set up a payment method into his own account. till now, the real owner and I have no idea how he did it but the police say it traces back to an internet cafe in UK. the item does exist but the bank account to credit somehow got re-routed. ebay is investigating, not sure what's the outcome yet. In any case its a hard lesson I hope you guys don't encounter. Regards J.
  20. Hey Job, That's a great move! just wished I was more vigilant. Joel

  25. Hi everyone, am extremely new here and have immediately learnt a great deal looking thru the pages. My name is Joel, a camera operator for both film and hd, based in Singapore. Please do visit my site www.joelsanjuan.t35.com for some reference to what I have been up to the past year. Comments are happily welcomed ;) My application for the Classic Steadicam Workshop has finally gone thru and there's a whole lot of excitement that am experiencing waiting for March to happen. Can't wait to learn and be in the presence of those great operators! Which brings to mind some questions I hope you guys won't mind answering. 1. Are there particular exercises I should be concentrating more at the gym in preparation for the course? Or maybe you guys can recommend a routine to help build up the main muscles? How about even sharing your own routine? 2. A bulk of my work deals with the ARRI 16 and 35 cams and more recently Panasonic HD cams. I also cover a fair bit of travel documentary. Hence I would like to know from the veterans' experiences, what would suit my job scope best? The PRO looks really attractive at the moment but was also thinking of a used Steadicam Master. I won't be able to afford either in time for the course but knowing what is recommended can help me start planning and saving up for one. Thanks again for such an awesome website and hoping to learn more as we go along. Warmest Regards Joel San Juan
