  1. Hi, everyone. A question for battery techies: I am thinking of buying a couple of 95 Wh Globalmediapro batteries and keeping my Swit battery charger. Could the batteries get overcharged or have any other problem for not using the Globalmediapro charger? To make it general, are the output amps of the charger what I have to Watch out for? Thanks.
  2. Hi everyone. My Decimator 2 got broken down the first day of use. In my case it was during a battery swap, too. I was powering it through a P Tap from the on board battery of an Epic. As I was confident having powered it through just one battery to avoid any issues with voltaje spikes, I had been unplugging the P Tap sometimes and others not, along all the day, and everything went right the several times I did it. When it got broken down I had not unplugged the P Tap, so I guess I should have done it always. The issue is that the green power light was on, but the red video out light was off, and no signal on my Steadicam's monitor. I changed all cables but still the same. I took it today to the distributor and he told me that it might be out of warranty for having powered it up from a battery instead of powering it from the provided AC adaptor, as it is supposed to be done. It was useless to say to him that I can't go plugged to the AC with the Steadicam. So, I am waiting now to the reply of the technicians from Symbiosis in UK, where it has been or will be sent. I will try to get a voltage regulator to avoid any more problems while I try to save to get a HD monitor. I hope all of you who had issues got your units repaired already. Tx
  3. Txema, If Tiffen/Steadicam doesn't have the plate adapter for the rods, then you can always get the Pro Rods that are flat on one side and just drill he holes into your plate and tap them All the best Hi, Rob. Thank you very much for your reply and that information. I've been evaluating both options: Rods attached to the Steadicam dovetail or a separate baseplate with rods, and I am leaning towards this second option, as I could make a quicker change from the Steadicam to another support shot without having to recalibrate the focus motor. So, I'm searching a Universal base plate with rods from Chrosziel, RedRock, Zacuto, Proaim, etc to screw over the Steadicam dovetail. By the way, congratulations to you and the rest of the operators for your work in the Academy Awards Show! Best wishes
  4. Hi, Brian. Thank you very much for your reply. I asked Robin, from Tiffen, really helpful always, and the accesory they make is intended to fix the dovetail of the bigger rigs. I am thinking about getting a plate with rods to attach between the Flyer doveplate and the camera, so all the gear is always on and ready to work if I change from Steadicam to tripod. Any recommendation for plates from RedRock, Chrosziel, Zacuto, etc that match a wide range of digital cameras?
  5. Hi everyone! I'm getting a Wireless Follow Focus system for my Flyer LE. that I will use mainly with video cameras, so I need to get a mounting plate with rods to attach the Focus motor to it. I have read that there's a plate with rods from Tiffen for Clipper and Ultra, but it seems they don't make one for the Flyer LE. I have seen also a couple of models in the internet, but I don't know if they are rigid enough for a Steadicam use. Which are the options? Any recomendation from your experience? Thanks!
  6. Hi, Pedro! Since I will actually connect just one of the two cameras to my sled monitor I was aware that I will have the opposite side of the other camera frame missing in my monitor's frame. But I wasn't aware that they will get rid of the edges of the whole frame, despite it's absolutely logical. And I had never heard about the "edge violation", but after reading something about it just now I get it. Your reply as been really useful. Thank you very much! I'll try to survive under the bombs and take some pictures! Hahah! Happy flights! Txema.
  7. Hi everyone! First of all thanks a lot to all of you who share your kwnoledge, experience and friendship in this Forum that allows, amongst other things, to increase our learning further workshops and Jerry's & Laurie's book, which I am reading, to newbies like me. I seized the opportunity to introduce myself in my reply to Tim Tyler's "Account Retention Thread". I had my first work one year ago, a month after the Steadicam Workshop I had attended. It was a 3D HD Live Broadcast in Barcelona. Just a few minutes of show and a few connections to the Steadicam I was slowly moving or locking-off, as I was told 3D resulting image on screen was so sensitive to movement. I've had no more shots in 3D since then and tomorrow I'll have my second one. It's not a big thing at all - 2 Panasonic HS-300 cameras set in parallel -. I will be recording a kind of performance of a battle that took place in the Spanish Civil War. No rehearsals, no cuts, no storyboards, nothing. Just an hour nonstop recording with my rig on. I asked the camera providers to make a camera rig in a range of 13 to 19 lbs, to get the most stability within the limit of my Flyer LE. So weight won't be a problem, and as they will cut and use the images for a teaser, I will manage to have some non full stress moments. I have just the general idea that pans and tilts must be very slow and that he best are straight movements in the lens axis, but I haven't made any test yet on that, so I would be really grateful for any advices on operating this 3D HD light rig - kind of movements, speed, any useful tip. Best flights. Txema.
