  1. I was asked this by a a DP I've worked with who's shooting up there at that time. I just wanted to get some feed back to him on whether they should go the Steadicam route or not. I appreciate all the feedback. Love spreading the knowledge. Freesh: You're right about the temps. I was just saying LOW. My bad BJ and Lars. Dimmu is great but Enslaved wins in Norway for me.
  2. Hey All, I was asked about operating in Northern Norway in the the middle of January to March and of course a lot of questions start to come up. Do LCD's work? Will Batteries Work? Heck will Any electronics work. Let alone a RED or Alexa. They say temperatures in the day time will be down to 30/40 Celsius (20-30 Fer). Wondering if suggesting that doing the whole thing on tripod may be the only way to do it. Any feed back would be cool.
  3. Hey Guys, Just giving a heads up. I know A lot of users on these forums already own their dream sleds, but I'm sure there are some who don't. The X45 was my first heavy camera sled and it served me quite well for my first 3 years before I decided to "Go PRO(GPI)". Glidecam is starting to make better equipment each year and I'm sure some people would like to see the progress that has been made. Hope to see you guys at CineGear either way. 4. I was lucky enough to get one in the first run and am loving it more and more with everyday of use. There is def a tracking channel when making a for/aft adjustment so there is NO problem there. But the cool thing is that you can loosen the clamp in the tracking channel and rotate the batteries 90deg to get your battery readout in a heads up position if you prefer that. The only current con I can find right now is that they are still designing the recorder/transmitter bracket so it can fit the new style AB HCX batteries when it is mounted. Other then that it makes achieving dynamic balance much easier then cranking the old PRO2 knob. You can get roughly 1/2" farther extension then the PRO2 hanger. A HUGE DIFFERENCE especially when at a 2.5 to 3 sec drop time. Well worth the investment.
  5. This is the first time I'm looking at their stuff. I own a "3A" type Arm right now with the six spring and pulley system and haven't tried on any canister style spring systems cause I don't wanna like it so much I end up hating my current arm. I just got a PRO Sled (which im stoked on)and common sense tells me to get a GPI Arm. But Hugo's product like an option too. I would guess you own both. Do you have a preference for any reason at all BJ?.....before I start shopping.
  6. I got it too. Wanted me to give them ALL of my info LOL
  7. Well Put BJ.....Very Well put. Couldnt agree more about working AFI films
  8. I couldn't agree more. I've had the pleasure of talking to Jim serveral times at Trade shows and other events. Couldn't be a nicer guy. I just purchased my 2nd BFD and couldn't be happier. I really appreciate the posts like this that go out to the guys who really make what we do possible. LONG LIVE ANALOG!!! My First BFD Hard at work
  9. Thanks Guys. I think that just made my decision a whole lot easier. Can't believe I couldn't find any lit on it searching around my self. Thank god for the Forums!!
  10. I'm just not satisfied with the stock vest I got with my system when I purchased it and after 2.5 years i'm done with it. Now I'm having trouble finding any used or even new Vest sold a la carte online. I'm mounting the Glidecam GOLD arm ( http://www.glidecam.com/product-gold-arm.php ) to it for now until I purchase a PRO arm on august. Does PRO offer any other vest besides the WK Bucket? ANY thoughts would be useful. THANKS
