  1. Dear all, does anyone have a slim lightweight option for mounting the Walter Klassen hard mount to an elemack male? Appreciate your input, Fabian
  2. Dear folks, does anyone know if the Kenyon KS-6 Gyro is noticeable more or less quiet than the 6x6 ones? Appreciate your input, Fabian
  3. Hi there! I'm looking to buy a WK or similar RIGID SOCKET ADAPTER including the AIRCRAFT PIN for my PRO ARM to make it work safe on my back mount. Let me know if you have one that you'd like to sell :-)
  4. Looking for Antlers to buy. Thank you in advance!
  5. Hi there! As the title says I'm looking for the iBaird low bracket for regular operating. Best, Fabian
  6. Whats the panning rate on the 6x6? I couldn't find anything on this. Pretend an average Alexa build / 6x6 at the bottom of the rig. Can anyone tell? Do I remember correctly whip pans are possible but will hurt the gyros? I guess thats still true for the 6x6/8x8 versions? Appreciate any input!
  7. Hey there! I have a few questions regarding the cinematic precisions alexa plate. Does anyone use it with the Betz tools topstage? Will if fit properly? And is there any kind of safety screws so that it wont slide thru unnoticed? Also will it work with a standard broadcast camera with a v-lock tripod adapter? And one more thing can one mount 15mm rods to the plate directly? I would appreciate your help and experience! Fabian
  8. Could anyone please measure the length of the stand when its collapsed? And is there a difference in length between the 12 and 14- base version? Appreciate your help! Fabian
  9. Thank you James! Thank you John! Thank you Lawrence! Thank you Dave!! :-) What I dont like at all (and only happened in that take) is the part at the bar (0:55-) where I lost the guy and didnt really know when the girls going to walk off. (They were all extras so their moves were pretty individuall in every take....) So you can see the uncertainty in camera movement I think. We also wanted to keep the camera moving at all times - yet this wasnt possible when action was behind. (Like at 2:04) When the doorkeeper comes in and I almost had to stop. Then the transition at 2:48 did look better in other takes when the hand of the girl that pulls the guy back came in more obvious. Finally at 3:05 the space at the door was so tight that I couldnt frame the doorkeeper perfectly as my sled would have knocked the door (Also I had to keep the door open with my foot and the ac had to scurry behind me too - keeping him in focus at closest focusing distance ;-))
  10. I'd like to share a one shot music video I operated on recently. Though there are some parts in that take I'm not totally happy about I am proud about the final video :-)
  11. Yeah the betz RIG is just awesome! I couldnt be any happier with it! And the folks are great too :-)
  12. Hey Folks! I might have a 3D shoot coming up. I own two analog Chrosziel Fox Units both with HEDEN M28VP. When I set it up so that both receivers are controlled by one unit they work perfectly synced BUT when making really fast pulls, like from infinity to the closest focusing distance they are off a few milliseconds. Could it cause problems like on fast pulls? By the way, does anyone know why that is? I mean the motors are the same, the difference in serial number is 190... ;-) Best, Fabian
  13. Haha though I'd more love to see it the other way around ;-))
  14. Going to ask him next week anyway when I'll meet him :-) Just thought I could get some user information here. I'll post about it once I know what the problem is!
  15. Hi there! I have an analog Chrosziel Mag Fox with a Heden 28VP. Last year I had the potentiometer replaced as it started to kind of vibrate. Everything was fine then but on the last shoot I discovered that the motor gets very slow at calibration in one direction and even stopped turning before the end sometimes!! So my AC helped turning the motor by hand and it worked out. (by the way, it wasnt really a stiff lens!) That problem only occurs during calibration, never happend during operation yet. Maybe some of you have discovered that or know what it could be. Appreciate your help! :-) Best, Fabian
  16. Thanks for your input! Well I wanted to make a different video this time as in my last reel most of the shots were pretty fast, running shots, etc... So this was supposed to be a slower video, in parts, as slow moves are more difficult. I know, the shots at the bed could have been done with a dolly or slider - But they wanted it with Steadicam and I think it looks nice.. :) And the girl walking to the father - I was arcing around that table you can't really see. Starting on the right and when she was going to him I had to exactly do the opposite move and end up in the front of the table. I linked a pic so you might see what I mean... http://www.fabianmel...ah-alexalow.jpg Thank You for mentioning that, therefore other's opinions are so important cause I'll never watch it objectively...
  17. Hi all, I put a little video together with a few shots I did on a movie in 2012 with the Alexa. There's some slow moves, low mode and a crane step off in it which I'd like to show you. I already posted it on The Steadicam Group on facebook: https://www.facebook...51220513606629/ Here's the direct vimeo link: https://vimeo.com/57601874 Please let me hear what you think about the single shots! Best, Fabian
  18. That is exactly what made me reconsider my preference... I think I'll just keep it locked from now on and see if anythings changing in this way.
  19. Hey y'all! As I'm consistantly trying to perfectionize things concering operating I was wondering about the arm post friction. I know it has been discussed but couldnt find anything on the board... I've always wanted to have the arm post as freely as possible (no friction) I even lubricated it to get it perfectly smooth. Most people will say its again a personal choice thing but now I started to tighten the screw trying it with a pretty locked arm post. Other than it felt strange I couldn't really tell if the shots looked any different though I thought the starts and stops looked very solid... Has anyone studied this one scientifically? ;-) Or is it yet another stupid thing that bothered me the last couple of hours and I should just do something important? Intrested in any thoughts, Fabian
  20. Did you have a back up arm? What does one do if it happens and doesnt bring a back up? Having bungee cords to get thru the rest of the day? ;-)
  21. Well it looks like something is loose. Check all the things you've attached to the sled. Check if all components on the camera are tight and do not shake. Also be sure that the top stage, the monitor and the batteries are tight. If everythings good take the sled (with the camera attached) and do the "shake test" - just shake it and feel/look if anything is still shaking.
  22. Well in my little 3 years experience there were 2 situations I actually did switch to goofy. Unfortunately I'm way too used to regular so that goofy feels very strange - so I now sometimes switch at home and practice. One situation I switched was the following: The character was sitting and the camera was supposed to start behind his left shoulder and move straight in over his shoulder. It was low mode btw... Had I not switched I would not have been able to continue the movement since the actor would have been in my way... Sure I could have walked Don Juan backwards but as it was only a straight move with no big headroom changes I rehearsed it a few times and it worked out pretty well! The other shot I switched to right side operating was also a straight move on the left edge over a table. There were no framing changes as well so it was no big deal.
  23. Sorry, I didn't point that out but didn't want to open another thread. Excuse my probably dumb question but how would I test it and not destroying it?
  24. Thank You Charles! But now that I looked it up again (http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/miniconverterheavyduty/techspecs) it say 12V on the SDI to Analog one, whereas the other converters are 12-31v...
