  1. Long shot but I'll trade you for an excellent condition Klassen with a goofy side drop arm.
  2. Victor, Would you consider the Bolt 300 good enough for Live-Gig return monitor use?

  5. Hi Craig, I've only been to a Tiffen Big Rig workshop and they encourage you to bring your own if you have one. I'm not sure what kind of workshop Toronto is, but if it's a Zephyr level workshop, I'd definitely bring my own vest. If it's a big-rig workshop, then I wouldn't bother because it wouldn't be of much use. Enjoy whatever kind of workshop it is!
  6. Sale Pending...Thanks to all who have responded, my apologies that I haven't been able to get back with each of you individualy.
  7. A change in career direction is taking me away from my dream rig. The arm, vest and Bartech are about 2-3 years old, everything else is less than a year old and in excellent condition. The sled flies wonderfully and I've yet to max out the arm's weight range working Broadcast HD, Alexa and Red jobs. All modern equipment with nothing needing updating, this kit is ready to work immediately. MK-V 1.5" Nexus System An extremely rigid and lightweight sled capable of flying even the largest cameras. 8. Wow, very dissapointing. Glad I have the original!
  9. Very nice meeting you at NAB and watching you balance the 3D Ultra2 rig.

  10. I believe the Sound Designs was $1700 with HDMI or $2499 with HDMI/SDI. Not terrible. It did seem like a robust build with an actual locking Hirose connector and all. They were showing some sort of HDD attachment as well, but I was in too big a hurry to check too closely. If you edit FCP, the AJA KiPro-Mini is my other option at $1500. It has SDI and HDMI, records ProRes to CF Cards, but has no monitor. I like that the KiPro and PIX both have nice mounting options, not sure on the Atomos.
  11. I wish I had seen the blackmagic box. I was looking quite closely at the Sound Devices PIX-240 as a possible on-board recorder. The monitor might double as a nice decent program monitor as well (bonus). But HDMI and SDI only (no analog) might be an issue.
  12. Where can I see the new system? Looks like the website doesn't have it yet.
  13. Thanks for the info...very sneaky Eric. I know where my first stop will be Monday. C6037
  14. And for those of us who don't live in LA, NAB would be a nice opportunity to see it...even if it's still in prototype form. I have only Monday at NAB, I'd love to see it if you'd like to PM me as to where it might be hidden. Your secret will be safe. I do appreciate your development trials and taking the time to perfect it.
  15. After missing out on the last three used Bartechs, I wasn't going to let this one slip away. I even have a tracking number for it already!
  16. Where can I see it at NAB? What operator?
  17. I'll be in town Friday through Tues.
  18. I'd throw a a WTB post. There's a number of original Flyer's lurking out there! Good luck.
  19. Ricardo, Welcome to the forum. I'd second many of the comments here. Definitely take that two day Flyer Workshop. Well worth the minimum investment even if you have to fly to one, but they do occasionally pass through Houston/Austin/Dallas. I would also advise you to look at the used Flyer market and make that your minimum entry point. Anything else, would be a very short term prospect. In the meantime, maybe hire an operator for your Steadicam shoot days. Most production companies don't own systems unless it is going to be a key part of their business model. You're not an island there in Houston, you have Patrick Neese (EFP) in Austin, George Niedson (XCS) in DFW, Marco Naylor (Ultra2) in El Paso, and of course me in DFW with a Nexus. Not to mention no less than 7 big rig operators a few hours away in New Orleans. Most all of us work Houston on regular basis. Best of luck to you, FWIW, I started my production business some 20 years ago at age 15.
  20. I'm sorry if offended you posting this on our site, but it is related to our industry. I just thought it was interesting and a bit of a good reminder to me, next time I'm doing a crane step-off! If you're not interested in anything in our industry besides Steadicam, I'd suggest not clicking on the "Jib Collapse" subject line. Mods are free to move this to 'off topic' if I've incorrectly used precious General Discussion thread space.
