  1. New: - Audio Breaker https://mediablackout.net/products/audio-breaker The Media Blackout Audio Breaker is a 2-channel breakout box that adapts devices with non-standard audio connectors to full size XLR connectors. The Audio Breaker features fully shielded audio cable, a milled aluminum enclosure, genuine Neutrik XLR connectors, and a universal 1/4 slot to attach directly to your rig or via 3rd party accessories. - Arri RS Breaker https://mediablackout.net/products/arri-rs-breaker The Media Blackout Arri RS Breaker is a 12V (unregulated), 24V (unregulated), and RS breakout for Arri or compatible cameras. The breakout box features four Lemo 2-pin (0B.302) connectors and four Fischer 3-pin (DG 102) connectors. The connectors are wired 1:1 to provide one input and three outputs for each connector type. The enclosure mounts to your rig via a male V-Lock dovetail (included). - 2-pin Lemo Polarity Tester https://mediablackout.net/products/2-pin-lemo-polarity-tester One of the biggest causes of damage to equipment on set is using a 2-pin Lemo cable that is not wired for the device it's plugged into. That's why Media Blackout created the 2-pin Lemo Polarity Tester. To use the tester, plug the source-side of your 2-pin Lemo cable into any DC power source from 6-36V, and plug the device-side into the tester. The tester will show you if pin-1 is ground (GND) or positive (+VDC) by flashing one of two red LEDs. The tester also features a micro USB port for firmware updates. - Kraken 360 VR Power Distro https://mediablackout.net/products/kraken-gopro-360-vr-power-assembly The Media Blackout Kraken 360 VR Power Distro provides 14 regulated 5V, 3A USB ports, three unregulated P-Tap ports, and an integrated Anton/Bauer battery plate to power GoPro or other USB powered 360 virtual reality rigs. The distro can also be used to charge USB devices on set. This is especially good for sets that use a lot of GoPro cameras.
  2. We make cables that have a pigtail for the GH connector to help with the fragility issue: https://mediablackout.net/products/amimon-connex-transmitter-power-cable
  3. Very few cameras actually output a 4K signal, and all those cameras (and future cameras) will output HD for at least another 5 years or so.
  4. Some people incorrectly refer to a gimbal as a "Steadicam", but this is not a gimbal forum. Try http://www.gimbaluser.com/
  5. Peter Abraham makes a plate called the Zalex Long Plate. Find him her on the forum or lookup Zalex on Facebook.
  6. I have a little 702/Bolt Sidekick monitor cage that I'm working on. Here's a quick glimpse: This cage will be "cable-free" everything will snap into place, and all of the power and video will be run internally. The unit will be able to take different style battery plates, as well. The finished product will also have two power outputs and the monitor's second HD-SDI line on the side. The handles will be removeable, and I will be designing various clamps to attach follow focus hand units to the side. If you want to know more, or you want to get in the line to get them when they're close to being done. Please email sales@mediablackout.net, or call 310-904-6222
  7. It looks like you've gotten the pinout right. I would suggest that instead splicing the two cables together, you should just remove the cable from the Lemo and solder the DC Barrel cable directly in. It would be cleaner. Just have some heat shrink tube handy if the cable clamp is too big to tighten around the cable.
  8. Kit rental is considered income in the eyes of the IRS, and they tax it as such.
  9. Hmm, maybe they aren't around anymore. You can try these: buffaloden@aol.com 818-706-2908
  10. NEW: Look out for this and other 3D printed products coming soon! Hyperdeck Fiber Plate https://mediablackout.net/products/hyperdeck-fiber-plate Media Blackout's Hyperdeck Fiber Plate is part of our 3D product series. The plates are 3D printed in-house using high-quality nylon, reinforced with four layers of continuous strand carbon fiber. Fiber Plates attach to V-Mount plates using genuine IDX V-Locks or attach to Gold Mount battery plates using our own T-Studs. Our T-Studs fit snugly in the plate, and do not wiggle like normal Gold Mount studs. These plates are very light at 2.4 ounces (70 grams), including hardware, and they only add 0.1" (2.54mm) to the depth of the recorder. These plates are used to mount a Blackmagic Design Hyperdeck Shuttle to an unused battery plate, which is especially useful Steadicam operators. Hyperdeck Fiber Plates also have the added bonus of being able to attach a Hyperdeck Shuttle to standard V-Lock accessory mounts. Hyperdeck Fiber Plates have mounting holes for both T-Studs and V-Locks, but only come with either three T-Studs or one V-Lock. Additional mounting hardware can be purchased separately here or here. When this item is marked as, "In Stock," they are ready for immediate shipment. Since these parts are 3D printed in-house, we can offer a multitude of customizations with fast turnaround. If you have a hole pattern you would like to include on a plate for a specific device, please contact us for a quote.
  11. NEW: Look out for this and other 3D printed products coming soon! 3-Stud Fiber Plate Media Blackout's 3-Stud Fiber Plate is part of our 3D product series. The plates are 3D printed in-house using high-quality nylon, reinforced with four layers of continuous strand carbon fiber. Fiber Plates attach to Gold Mount battery plates using our own T-Studs. Our T-Studs fit snugly in the plate, and do not wiggle like normal Gold Mount studs. These plates can be used to protect unused battery plates, which is especially useful for a downward facing battery plate on a Steadicam. They can also be used to create a quick release for accessories using velcro, epoxy, or mounting tape. 3-Stud Fiber Plates are strong, rigid, and extremely light at 1.6 ounces (45 grams), including hardware. When this item is marked as, "In Stock," they are ready for immediate shipment. Since these parts are 3D printed in-house, we can offer a multitude of customizations with fast turnaround. If you have a hole pattern you would like to include on a plate for a specific device, please contact us for a quote. All Media Blackout cable assemblies use genuine parts and high-quality cable. Cable assemblies are made to order at our office in Culver City, CA. If you need custom assemblies, please contact us.
  12. If the boards are dirty, they could be heating faster than they should. That would cause the fan to come on faster than normal. You could use canned air to get the dust off of everything.
  13. A while back, I mentioned I could make an offset plate for the 7" monitors that don't have a centered battery mount. I just wanted to let you know that I've been doing some custom bracketry with my composite 3D printer, and I'm surprised at the strength and rigidity of these parts! They offer a higher strength to weight ratio than aluminum. I've attached some photos of 4mm thick prints with 4 layers of continuous strand carbon fiber embedded in the print. The plastic used is a high-quality nylon, and is much less brittle than PLA used on lower-end 3D printers. This nylon won't scratch sensitive gear, either. The plates have molded-in threaded inserts. Screws hold tight with less chance of stripping the nylon out If anyone needs any 3D printed bracketry, I can print your designs or offer design services. . You can email any requests to sales@mediablackout.net
  14. Matt, just be aware that a herniated disc often times does not equate to back pain, but rather pain, numbness, or weakness down the butt, thigh, leg, ankle, foot, or toes. The pain will travel along the nerve if there is pressure on it. I hope you the best, and fly safe!
  15. Be careful. If it feels like it could be nerve pain, you could be developing a herniated disc. See a doctor if it gets worse.
  16. Yeah, you have to put the screw through that plastic spacer that I see you moved all the way to the left. That spacer is what tightens around the tube.
  17. I've made them before. There are a couple of different methods to doing it. Email me about it: alan@mediablackout.net
  18. Media Blackout has created another first with the Rencher Industries BreakerBatt - A polarity-agnostic battery eliminator with Lemo power loop-out. Sony NPF is available now, and Canon LP-E6 is coming soon! Available at - https://mediablackout.net/products/breakerbatt
  19. I always mounted a rod above the lens, and I put the motor hanging down to the lens. Gravity kept it from jumping. Otherwise, I used a bongo as Sam has said.
  20. I also have USAA renter's insurance. They specifically don't cover any professional equipment, equipment used for business, or rental equipment on any of their plans. You should double and triple check that you are covered for your professional gear with USAA renter's insurance.
