hey yall i am putting together my equipment list to submit to Tonya for another year of insurance. I just added a Preston FIZ kit, all generation 1 stuff. There are a few items that I am having trouble pinning down prices. Let me know what you think the value of these are (for insurance purposes, not for selling on the forum, etc) Hand Unit 1 (microwave) - 500? MicroForce V+F control - 2000? Hey all, I've been seeing a lot of wireless follow focus units coming out and already in existence. I personally use a Preston FiZ or Chrosziel Magnum (Owned by Evidence Camera Rentals in Echo park) but have been wanting my own unit for my personal shoots. I don't have the budget to get my own FiZ or anything fancy but I would like to spend maybe a few grand on something that is somewhat reliable. I really only need one motor at this point for low end stuff, but the option for more couldn't hurt, and definitely would like something that can worth well with other brand motors if need be. What do you think? Any suggestions? Thoughts? Thank you for your responses! - James

I've designed a very handy wheel guard for the HU3 handset that allows you (or your focus puller) to place the handset down without bumping and changing the focus setting. It also protects against chipping and delaminating the premarked focus rings, as they tend to get mashed up easily at the edge. Black anodized aluminum, matches the HU3. Just remove the two corresponding screws from the back of the HU3 and install with the two included screws. I've been using a prototype for about a year and whenever I'm not using my own HU3 I really do miss having that guard there under my fingers. I've got some pics below. They're $45 (CAD) apiece, plus tax if you're in Canada. Shipping should be $4-6 anywhere in North America. For less than the cost of one replacement HU3 focus ring, you can protect all your rings.
