In efforts to try and post more on the forum rather than Facebook. I am new to steadicam but I do believe to have a basic understanding of balance and have worked with 3axis gimbals for years. I have two sleds currently in my possession that are exhibiting similar but slightly different issues for what I believe to be a misalignment in the gimbal or yoke. Let’s forget dynamic balance for the moment. If I am setting up for a static balance with a 2.5 second drop time and I should be able to set the Fore-Aft and Side to Side to sit level with the lens facing forward and the gimbal 90* to the right and I rotate the rig by 90* and let the rig come to a rest the horizon shouldn’t fall left or right when static balanced correct? My only concern with my setup is on the Zephyr I have a gold to V mount adapter That is offsetting the batter left a bit. my goldmount batteries get here Monday. Attached are links to my links to videos I made to show Tyson at Tiffen about the Aero 30. The first one I believe my dynamic balance was pretty off and in the second video I corrected it as much as I could. Would love to get everyone’s thoughts on this because I feel like I’m doing everything right but the equipment seems off. My lacking of experience makes me question myself to and my camera build. I had even more of an issue getting dynamic balance on the zephyr with the same camera package as in the video so I switched to a weight cage to eliminate any variables with the camera build. Thanks!

I am curious to hear opinions on the Steadicam Archer - (not the Archer 2) I am looking to purchase my first serious rig and I am trying to determine if this one would be a good investment. It comes with the G50X arm and LX vest. Modifications would include HD wiring and 12/24v selector. My questions are: -is this rig still 'current' enough to start a career as a steadicam op with (in NYC)? -are there any known drawbacks or cons to the Archer rig? Or any notable pros or benefits? -any other considerations or thoughts on this rig in general? Any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated. I am limited in what I can afford at this point, but I want to make sure I am investing in something that will allow me to create some momentum for myself, and that wont be a hinderance due to being old or outdated. Selling my Aero 30 system including all cables, plates, and accessories. Only been used to shoot one indie feature. The vest has been used a few more times as I rented it out to a buddy of mine but has added cross back straps. Other than that it’s all ready to go for ya in the pelican case with accessory organizer in the lid. I do also have a 5 foot c stand that was used to mount and balance it if you want that as well. If not I’ll take $100 off the price. I am throwing in the Steadicam guidebook and an extra V-Mount for the system. It currently has the Gold-Mount on it. Hey everyone! I'm really sad to post this, but due to life circumstances, I have to part with this custom rig I've built. Flies rigs up to 40lbs easily. You can probably even push 45lbs. Comes with everything you see here. (except C-stand) Steadicam Exovest w/vest bag Flowcine Xbone kit Steadicam G50x arm with bag and raincovers Glidecam X45 sled with Camjam Monitor bracket and SmallHD 702 monitor PLEASE NOTE: The monitor has 1 stuck green pixel. You can sorta see it in the pics. It never bothered me, but you can send it in to SmallHD if it bothers you that much Also, the gimbal handle has a chip in the socket. Still fully functional, and that too, didn't bother me in operation, but if you can see in the sled layout pics, I am supplying 2 extra socket caps if you want to replace it. Again, I HATE that I have to part with this rig, but still has a TON of life to it as it is just over a year old. Purchased this system brand new for around $23,000. Hello folks, I am going to be flying a Sony Venice for a project coming up and I was wondering if anyone has ever flown that camera and if there is anything I should be aware of? As far as I know it will be with cinema glass, mb, ff, and that's about it. I will be using a Zephyr, any concerns about the payload? Thanks in advance.
