Premium Members Rudy Katkic Posted December 31, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 31, 2004 A general question to all who are fan's of Larry McConkey's work in Miller's Crossing. In the final "2 shot" walk and talk between Albert Finney and Gabriel Byrne is it steadicam or not? I don't think so because there is absolutely no float in the framelines. But then again its not dolly because you'd be able to see the track at some point during the tail end of their dialogue. So what the heck is it?!? Anyway.... Here's wishing everyone a very happy and safe new year! Rudy Katkic
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted December 31, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 31, 2004 Didn´t see the movie and so I don't know how long the shot is but you can do a lot with a (large) crane and tracks. Or use bluescreen? Walking belt)
Premium Members Michael Tsimperopoulos SOC Posted December 31, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 31, 2004 Yes, that's Larry. Steadicam doesn't really get any better than that. Also, if you can find it, watch "At play in the fields of the Lord" (1991). Larry again, at his absolute best. Happy New Year to everyone ! Michael. Premium Members Charles Papert Posted January 1, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 1, 2005 At my very best, a few times in my career, I might have come within sight of matching Larry's operating on an average day. But to turn that in (or better) every day? Amazing.
