David Hoffman
Question: How crazy do you have to be to do that? From stradacranes.com

Premium Members Jason Williams Posted December 24, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 24, 2006 The funny thing is ... like a small crash helmet is gonna protect you if it decides to break while you're at the top ;) I really think we should have a caption competition for this .... top picture - my entry would be "I can see my house from here!" kip ross
I would sooooooooooooo love to do that! But I would -in addition to the helmet- tape one of those really big cartoon springs to each foot..... Just in case, cuz you never know............... Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted December 24, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 24, 2006 There is a thread somewhere in the archives about the Strada Crane, if you do a search. It's the only 100ft camera crane about. The Steadicam application is apparently a 'hook and quick release' system - just so long as the release doesn't come at the top of its range in the air! Much easier to do a simple crane step on / step off as normal, but of course you can't get anywhere near the same height as can be obtained with the Strada. hookandrelease
For those of you who have an interest in hook and release you should know that it is much, much safer than step on/off. The harnesses used were made by the flying guru from Cirque du Soleil and no Grips ate allowed to operate the system without first having undergone stringent training. Likewise, no steadicam operator, no matter how keen, is let loose on the system without being trained first. The system is now owned by Eurogrip in Mechelen, Belgium. Give them a call if you fancy the flight of your life. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
