Premium Members Dan Coplan Posted October 19, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 19, 2006 I got mine at a local army surplus store for $20. I put cardboard in the bottom and sides to reinforce it. It also holds my arm bag which I drop inside the neck of the vest. Top-loading with a zipper and snaps and has handles to carry. Clearly I can't ship it this way, but for local gigs it's great. Dan
Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted October 20, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 20, 2006 I definatly reccommend Modular 51, I have some of their gear. The only thing to keep in mind except shipping, is that they don't seem to carry stock, they manufacture to order so it may take a couple of weeks to arrive. But ultimately worth the wait for well fabricated protective bags. Job - you may think that's an expensive shipping cost, you should see how expensive those steadicam magliner carts are to ship - ouch! Premium Members Benjamin Treplin Posted October 20, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 20, 2006 Job the price is for express shipping I'm sure there is a slower and cheaper shipping rate. And it's a quality product.

Premium Members Matt Petrosky Posted October 21, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 21, 2006 If you are talking about the PRO vest, it fits perfectly in a stock Eagle Creek duffle. The padded arm bag fits nicely inside the vest inside the bag. Great for local transport. To ship it all fits in a Pelican 1620. I think they are now calling this size "The Regular." http://www.eaglecreek.com/bags_luggage/duf...-Regular-20011/ Erwin can you confirm this size? I don't have my bag with me. BTW, the bag is $50 and can be found at most sporting goods stores, camping stores, etc. -Matt
Premium Members Dan Coplan Posted October 24, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 24, 2006 Matt - Do you ever check this bag on flights or carry-on only? Or do you have a separate hard case for checking? Dan
Premium Members Matt Petrosky Posted October 25, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 25, 2006 Dan, Never hand-carried it, I can only imagine what airport security would think of a steadicam arm and vest. I just put the bag into the 1620 and it checks great, I even have a little room for an extra jacket or something. -Matt
Premium Members Dan Coplan Posted October 26, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 26, 2006 Never hand-carried it, I can only imagine what airport security would think of a steadicam arm and vest. I've done this a couple times and actually didn't have any problems but have since gotten a hard case for my arm. One of the airport security guys in Montana actually knew what the arm and vest were! But the security guy at LAX had no clue. Go figure.
Premium Members chris fawcett Posted October 26, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 26, 2006 But the security guy at LAX had no clue. Go figure. The security guy I got at LAX had a clue. He recognised immediately that the vest and arm were for mountain biking, and I congratulated him on it. Figure that.
