Premium Members James Puli Posted January 23, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 23, 2007 Hey Guys I am in the process of booking my trip to the USA for NAB and Cinegear and was wondering wether anyone could recomend any particular airlines to avoid? My travel agent wants to book me on American Airlines flights, yet on SouthWest's website I can find flights for less then a third of the AA prices. Im not carrying gear its just me and my suitcase, and has anyone had problems with SouthWest on a level like this? Or are there anyother airlines that I should be looking at? And is this too good to be true? Thanks in advance. James Puli Melbourne Australia
Todd Ferguson
James, how long of a southwest flight are you considering? Short flight's are ok but considering any long distance I'd avoid this airline. It's kinda like a flying bus ride, no frills and usually crowded because of the cheap fares. If you want to tell me the city's you will be flying to and from I don't mind giving some suggestions. Southwest short ok/ long not so great. I call them Southworst most of the time. Try from LA to Vegas United ,Us airways,America west I think all of these airlines are partners these day's. Todd Ferguson Los Angeles Email babeita@mac.com or on forum. Premium Members James Puli Posted January 23, 2007 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted January 23, 2007 Thanks Todd. Am only really looking at LA to Vegas for NAB at this stage which is obviousley nice and short. So Im sure it will be fine. JP
Todd Ferguson
That is what I would use it for also. I might use them too if I don't drive from LA. I guess I might see ya there! Todd Ferguson.
Premium Members Dan Coplan Posted January 23, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 23, 2007 It's such a short flight that it doesn't matter which airline you fly. Southwest is fine, they fly there often, and you often can't beat the pricing. Or see if you can hook up with another operator who is driving and carpool. It's all of a 4 hr. drive. For you and everyone else, I recently discoverd sidestep.com - a great site that scans tons of airlines and shows you the lowest fare. Dan That site made my netscape browser completely shut down. Another site like that is kayak.com. It does basically the same thing. I find it much better than orbitz or the other travel sites.
