Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted May 18, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 18, 2007 Thanks I just got the email. I have the original reprint of the two articles and if you all look on page 4 of it you will see a familiar name. My father took the photo of Ted Hardmounted to a Fisher dolly. He and Ted knew each other for years at that point and 3 weeks after He and Ted did that commercial Ted invited me up to Chicago to meet him and try on the Rig. I was 15 at the time. It was a life altering meeting. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted May 18, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 18, 2007 I can still remember "discovering" American Cinematographer at the Out-of-Town newsstand in Harvard Square, and the fates had conspired such that it was the issue that contained part one of this article. Read it over and over, and naturally bought the next issue to pore over the rest. I'm glad everyone's getting a chance to see it who didn't have the opportunity the first time, good job Alan! Thanks to Dave Emmerichs, a lot more classic Teddy stuff will be emerging soon for public consumption.
Alan Lifton
I also found an old "Explorer" segment where GB is interviewed about how he invented the rig and other things, and there is also some interesting old footage from the workshops back in the "80's. Garrett's flying the rig while riding a bicycle...!! Great stuff... I did my workshop in either 83 or 84 at Silvercup Studios in NYC. For me, that was my life-changing experience (well..., at least at the professional level... nyuk nyuk nyuk...). The segment is on VHS and I bumped it to DVD. I'll share if we can figure out how... Best, Alan
